What the AI thinks of you - and why

PS: does anybody know how CS research rate works? They are nearly always ahead, but only own one city (obviously), don't sign research agreements, and the research given by allied CS with the right patronage SP isn't impressive (even if it's only a third of their research).

They stay roughly abreast of the tech leader.

City States appeared to be granted a tech every time a major power researches one.

As to the amount of science Patronage gives, I think that is the same basic calculation as for a major power with a division by 3 at the end.

e.g. If the population of that city state in a major power's hands with it''s current buildings would yield 30 beakers, then Patronage grants 10.
I wouldn't be surprised if science buildings are very low on a city state's build list.
With just one CS ally, not that impressive, but when you have half the city states in the world as an ally, this is quite a good bonus.
