I had to go at my folks house the other night to do some laundry (my washer has been broke for a while) and I found my old Nintendo Entertainment System 8 bits. It doesn't work anymore but I can't bring myself to throw this thing away.

I was six years old when me, my older brother and my older sister put all the money we had togheter and my parents paid the difference to buy this thing. Mario became an instant friend.

Now I'm trying to find a new way to use it.
Maybe I should cut a hole in the middle and put a plant in there? Or just use it to store the bills I have to pay?

I'd like to get some suggestions.
Thanks.

I agree with cgannon. Throwing it off a tall building would be fun. And set up a camera so you can watch it again and again. :D

honor it with a proper funeral. but first the creamation lots of gasoline and if you wish to throw it off a building well i say go for it

Use it as a hood for the PC.

Get some paint, and make it look really new, like a new system. Someone did that as a joke with the Japanese NES (Famicom), and made it look like it was the PS3.

try and fix it.

old games are much better than the new ones...Contra is the best.

You can find a system somewhere, if you want to play your old games. I think the old games are better too. Actually, I've just picked up an old game of Genghis Khan that I had saved. Plus, Mega Man is the coolest!

EAK! I can't believe some of you people! Hurt an original NES?! You must be crazy or too young to have enjoyed the NES. Keep it and cherish it for the rest of your life. Do not let harm become of it! Worship it!

Buy a $400 case and stand, with those soft velvet pillows and put it in there.

Then you can throw it off a tall building if you really wish to.

Go buy a replacement NES and play your old games. Also some of those old games have become collecters items- espicially RPG series like Zelda, or Shining Force on the Megadrive/Genesis

Wow! Lots of ideas!
-throw it off a building/destroy it with style
-museum of gaming
-fix it
-cannibalize it
-hood for pc
-new system

I have to say that I will not destroy it under any circumstances.
It has been broken for years and I don't think I can fix it.
Sure I would like to play another game of "Kid Icarus", "Link", "Contra" or "Double Dragon" but I would then realize today's game are much better. Better left with nostalgia and the impression of superiority of the past. I'd like to find a way to make it usefull or at least decorative.

Or send it to me and let me fix it...I'm sure I could figure out something given time:D. Those old NES are worth some money these days (not that I would sell it if I got my hands on a working one).

Edit: 200 posts! Oh, wait...200 is rather pitiful in comparison to most. :(

The Nintendo Entertainment System was the greatest console of all time! I say fix it if you can. If you get it working and find you don't enjoy it anymore I'll give you 20 or 30 bucks (US) for it and your games.

Contra was fun. One of the happiest moments of my childhood was beating Contra without the 30 life code. Haha, just kidding, my life wasn't that bad.

I loved the Dragon Warrior series too and Zelda and Zelda II were great, I remember first opening my box to reveal the shiny gold Zelda cartridge. I hate to wait months for it because it cost about $60. When I went to the store at first all I had was $25, I ended up buying this crappy game called Commando to tide me over until I had sufficient funds saved.
