I usually go for domination but sometimes due to traits (I usually go random) or enemies I will switch up with cultural or space race.

I'm all about the space race victory.:nuke:

I said "Don't know" because the victory type that I aim for changes depending on the situation I find myself in.

Not many go for a diplomatic or a time victory do they?

Well I don't go for a time victory - but I'll take it :D

Won a couple of Diplo victories lately, much to my pleased surprise. The path to both became apparent as events in the game played out. I was working toward Domination in one game and Cultural in the other when I realized that a Diplo victory might be possible.

Cultural is the apple of my eye but I'm not clever enough to pull it off as often as I'd like.

I usually slant it towards who I get, since I play random leader. Diplo seems to be the hardest for me to plan on getting.

Domination for the highest score

Space race victories are too easy and so boring! I went down a notch to warlord level a few weeks ago and have been playing nothing but random games - with space race turned off :D .I need to learn how to win all types of victories if I want to be any good at higher levels. And I think you need to be willing to change your victory stategy mid game. I've become a very good warmonger this way, but I've never won a cultural victory.

Hard to answer this question by just voting for one option. Most players won't be commited to pursuing any one victory type when they start out, they will adapt their strategy to the situation they encounter.

I would say my default strategy is domination, in the sense that in the early game, I will try and expand, which in almost all cases includes a couple of wars. If diplomatic blocs form in the course of this, I will consider diplomatic, and I often build the UN for backdoor diplo wins (voting yourself in with just your pop) - all the fun of invading/conquering, but less hassle than domination in actually claiming the land. Don't like the drawn out nature of proper domination and conquest wins. Also, I hardly ever play for cultural and find space race and time victories ust plain dull.

Much as I am in favor of flexible strategy, my biggest problem is not committing to a victory type early enough. If you play for diplo, backdoor domination or all out war to the finish line, you will often be less sucessful (= fast) than just pursuing either of these with all you have.

Some problem for me, One time i played Hayen Capac, then i found i had no iron and had to change my plan.

It depends on the civ, leader & map. I usually end up with domination or (pointy-stick diplomatic) as the quickest way to finish the game off. I enjoy starting games more than finishing them and I often don't actually finish the game once it feels like I'm going through the motions. I've never managed a conquest or time win for that reason.

Domination or Conquest are the only real victory conditions. Everything else I consider either a draw or a loss.

Sometimes when I end up going for Domination, before I can dominate, I can vote myself (with my vassals) to a Diplo victory. I usually go for that at that point b/c why spend another 2 - 4 hours fighting repetitive wars to finally edge out that Domination vic? At the point of being able to vote ones self in, isn't it sort of pointless to continue fighting wars you are obviously going to win?

Same here :)
But I'd put it this way, if the first one on the list is doable, try the one underneath as well :

1) Time
2) Diplomatic
3) Spacerace
4) Conquest
5) Domination
6) Culture

How about adding a religious victory ? For example when your civs state religion has reached 50% of the global population ... or something alike.
