So I've enjoyed the new DLC released a while back (Denmark and the map packs) and I have purchased every other DLC pack and am happy with them all. I am, however, getting impatient waiting for the next one. WHAT WILL IT BE? When will it come out?

That's still a mystery. There are some speculations, for instance Korea or the Zulu, but that's just what they are, speculations.

Probably it'll be made public in the coming days/weeks what the next DLC will be as it's probably slated for june-/july-release (but that is too a speculation)

It would be cool to have another African society. I am not too excited about Korea though.

Other civs I'd like to see are:
Canada
Israel
Hungary
Belgium
Australia
Maya
Carthage
Phoenicia
Sumer

I would like to see Mali come back. Mansa Musa was so nice to me in Civ 4 :)

Problem is Mali and Songhai are pretty much the same thing with the same key towns and strengths. I do miss Mansa Musa, though.

Rather, I'd hope for an African civ like Zimbabwe or Zulu. Or another Native American civ like Mississippi or Sioux.

Korea
Afghanistan
The Congo
Mayans
...
Just as long as it's not another western civ...

so is this the speculation thread now? there are a few i'd like to see, but that's not really speculation, that's a wish list. i guess my only speculation right now is that it won't be anybody from europe.

i think there needs to be a carthage and phoenicia for the next one. no other civ really deserves it more than those two that i know of

instead of a business model where you sell the book as just a cover with 5 chapters, and selling each chapter seperately - i would rather have a complete game.

I don't want 500 DLC items for 5.00 a piece and i don't want to have to buy bundles of their badly made maps.

They need to release their next DLC as an expansion pack that lets you buy all of the civ's in one package for about 15.00 or less along with an apology.

Then they need to make real expansions that add real content.

Is this the future of civ? How much money will you buy on seperate chapters before you have the book?

Also it is not inspiring to buy DLC items knowing i can't use them for HoF or GoTM or anything. i can just "look at them".

You have to consider, they probably won't make a Civ if they already have a City State representing them, like Korea (Seoul). The Byzantines have always been a staple, although I doubt they will have a place alongside the Ottomans. Much of the world is already covered, assuming they go with the City State thing I mentioned. Notice how they made the Vikings Denmark and not Scandinavia, because of Helsinki and Stockholm.

You seem to forget that Copenhagen actually was a city-state in the game, and it was removed (replaced by Quebec City) to allow them to use it as Denmark's capital. I don't think having a City-State representing a Civ will stop them in the future.

There is no Jerusalem... Heres hoping for Israel.

Well, let's hope they don't start pulling random city states out their ass. I'd like to see them add a second leader for every civ, maybe with their own UU's as well. Might be expansion material though.

I'd like to see:

Sumerians
Austria-Hungary
Mayans
Phoenicia
Zulu
Dutch

I'd also like to see:
Religion and stability

It's not just the future of civ, but probably the future of the gaming industry as a whole (with some exceptions to the rule).
So one could better get used to it and embrace them than complain about it and wishing for the old days, I think :) Besides you're free not to buy them, ofcourse.

And to be honest I'd rather have it this way then play the same stuff waiting a year or more until we get some new things.
Feed me little bits to keep me occupied and interested instead of letting me wait a long, long time :)

But this isn't a topic about the pro's and cons of DLC, there are plenty of topics about that :)

More ontopic:
I also hope for a non-European Civ, and I'm especially curious about the scenario we're going to get.
I've started to quite like the scenario's, actually. I like them more than I expected.

Personally, I prefer it this way compared to the waiting forever for a sequel/expansion pack like with Civ IV. We waited 9 months for the first one and 12 months for the second one and they each cost $20. I know they were more significant expansions, but I like the gradual improvement that keeps the game new every 2 months.

Frankly, if all video games were released incomplete and then added to until the next version came out, I'd be happy with that, I tend to get bored with most games pretty quickly if there's nothing new to do in them.

I'm not a huge fan of the scenarios, but wouldn't complain if they added in a few new game features as a result of a new scenario.

I hope for a non-European Civ, but wouldn't mind if they released it with a slightly more obscure European Civ like Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Basque or Switzerland.

that sounds like a dream
but I want Seoul to be in the game though heh

If they did this, i would be much more satisfied as long as the content isn't menial.
