The last gamespot preview revealed that communism(what allows state property civic) is a technology and not a civic, so we have now 4 know economic civics: Decentralization, Free Market, State Property and Environmentalism.

I think that the fifth one could refere to a medieval economic system like "guild controlled" or to a swedish economic model like "weltfare" or "social security".

Is it the Danish or Norwegian envy that's making itself known? ;) For some reason the Swedish model often is refered to when social democracy or welfaresociety is discussed. But it's true it's not like we invented it, we're just it's posterchild. :mischief:

More seriously I wouldn't say it's that good a model, not during an age of globalisation at least, with all that it means, if you aren't rich on oil or anything that is...

Yeah, I don't think it's economic though.

Maybe Planned, or Regulated or something along the lines of a non-Laissez-Faire.

Simple, Free Market, Planned and Green, anyone?

yes but we already have "state property", what becomes available when you research communism. So planned would be too similar to State property I think.

wish america had some socialism going for it...for a country that claims to be the most "free" there is illegal everything- but at least we have high crime and high teenage birth rates to compensate

How about deficit spending? In this economic model you can spend all the money you want provided that other civs are willing to lend you money. Eventually the bill will come due, and the lending civs will foreclose on all your cities, but until that point you can buy whatever you want.

To add fuel to the fire, a Norwegian friend of mine here in the States likes to joke that when the Swedes switched from driving on the left side of the road to driving on the right side, the govt. decided to make the process as orderly as possible, so they had everybody whose names began with A through M switch on the first of the month, and everybody whose names began with N through Z on the 15th. . . .

I think the term we are looking for is "Corporatism", where state corporations and private corporations cooperate and interact in predesigned cartels.

How on earth would socialism be a solution to "illegal everything"? Socialism generally involves more state control.
