what's the best version of Civ 2

My version is real weird!

on the 'game options' (ctrl+O) screen it says that I have version 5.2.5f (?), in the game credits section it says that it is the gold multiplayer, the box it came in says it is the 'Ultimate Collection' and the Fascist patch seems to think that it is the 'classic'version.

WELL?!! Does anyone know what it is?

Oh and it's 20 to eleven here!!!

I saw your version on the self a few weeks ago, but I am mot foamier with it. It appear from the box to be a possible altered version of MGE package with two other out of date games, IIRC, Worms & Mech Warrior. I do not think it has been out long enough for any of the civ fans to have evaluated its eccentricities, assuming there is any difference between it and the other civ2MGE. Perhaps you might see if it take the 1.3 patch for MGE.

Did i mention that I love the spellchecker?

If you make scenarios, Fantastic Worlds is the best version. MGE and ToT introduced NEW bugs with the objective scoring system, and made the AI so aggressive that computer players are much more likely to attack you.
FW will be hard to find if you don't have it already.

If your interest is multiplay, get MGE instead of ToT.

It seems eToys is out of both Civ 2 MGE and ToT, not even listed at the site as out of stock, totally removed from the site.
Good thing I ordered when I did.

The best version is definetly MGE for it's very easy to edit(my specialty)and it is patched up more than any civ2 game(besides TOT)so it has few bugs and also it can play both FW and MGE scenarios where FW only play FW scenarios and finally it's cheaper than youd think for instance at the stores i go to you see the origanal civ2 for $9.99 and the expansions for $4.99 each when MGE is just $7.89

all you people are so unfortunate. I got civ ii mge for free. just pm me for details cuz thunderfall deleted my links.

damn, how'd you get civ mge for so cheap? it costed me 40$ canadian.

Penvzila: i've downloaded the Civ2 MGE from a warez site too, and it's only 20 megs. Then i decided to buy it because i wanted all the extras, like the music, the movies, the poster with the tech tree, instruction manuel, etc.

Civ II is the best most practical version. Civ II TOT is for people with faster computers. Civ Call to Power is a poor excuse for a copycat company "Activision" and they SUCK EGGS! Because I have a bug ridden game that they have addmitted on Apolyton that they have no interest or desire to fix and basically told the gamers to put up with it, and I am never buying another activistion product. Pitty because I have been helping to support Activision since space Invaders, Berzerk, Spiderman, Adventure, Enduro, Missile Command and Asteroids!!!

ACTIVISION KISS MY REAR END!!!! For slapping me and thousands of other people in the face! <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/tongue.gif" border=0> <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/tongue.gif" border=0> <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/tongue.gif" border=0> <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/tongue.gif" border=0>!!!

Sorry, I got carried away....

*Takes a pill*...

Oh yeah, civ II is the best release of anything with the name Civ in the title <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif" border=0>

And Civ III will be even better <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif" border=0>

MGE, period. It's a big a a$$ package that contains everything ever release officially for Civ2, at a "low" price. Almost every person who's serious about multiplay owns it.
