What's the editor for anyway?

I know that more than half of you are dissatisfied by the game mechanics. And I'd be lying if I say that the game is exactly what I expected it to be...

But that's why they have an editor that can modify every aspect of the game. Until the patch or the MP comes out, I'm going to click every button on that editor until I feel the game suits my tastes. I'm advising everyone to do this after playing a few 'normal' games.

The editor for me so far has been great. It really allowed me to enjoy the game much more. Everyone should take 10 minutes to observe all the stuff in the editor because it's not just for scenarios(at all apparently). I just wanted to get that out. :vomit: hehe.

True but I am one of those pureists: either play by the standart rules or don't play at all. Somehow it doesn't feel right if you alter all the rules to fit your liking. It's part of the challange to handle things I don't like too much. Also it's all or nothing. there are things I don't like and I can't alter with the editor and i can live with that so i simply leave everything like it is...

Hi guys!
I still don't have the game (cursed Amazon!), but after reading this thread i want to share some thoughts.

I think you guys are right about wanting some way to fight corruption as you advance in science.

So far roads, railroads, improvements and small wonders have been sugested to accomplish this. Let me suggest something else: How about creating a different kind of citizen (the law enforcer) that can only be used in a city if you have a certain improvement (police station?). That way you can take some enterteiners and scientists and make them law enforcers, if the situation is bad.

What do you think? Stupid or Reasonable? ;)

/me likes...

*bump*

perhaps they would reduce an X percentage of the remaining corruption, although i wonder if they wouldn't become much and MUCH better than taxmen, who only add 1 gold per turn, and these guys would have to remove at least one corruption in money, or be useless (they could also only fight shield corruption perhaps... )

Well the "police station" that you get from Communism combats war weariness, not corruption, at least that's what the civelopedia states. The Courthouse is the corruption improvement. Perhaps it could be something like you need a courthouse and say a technology like Code of Laws or something and then you can have automatic improvement in corruption. At least have something that you don't have to micromanage.

Oh...Your...God....

DaEezT...I totally agree with you! I was disgusted with the cheats and trainers that came out after one day!!!! I mean come on, do those people suck so much they have to cheat after one day!!!

Although I agree that corruption is WAY TO HIGH, I'm not going to apply any of those MOD's because when MP comes out (and it will) and your use to your "cusshie" easier rules, and then you play someone with the normal rules, your going to get blown away. While we are learning to deal with corruption, you guys are cheating to get around it, and you will pay the ultimate price when we have it under control and yours is rampant.

Corruption is just on example, but even the cool graphics MOD's that are coming out. With the exception of the Wonders one (which is really cool!!!) the rest just replace standard graphics. OF COURSE it's going to be harder to figure out at first!!! But when Civ 2 came out did someone reprogram it to be 2D grid and units?? No. Why? Because it was better that way. And if people will take time to get used to things like they did back in '96 and '97 then we would be in much better shape.

Anyway....

/crazy rant

Of course I agree with you that cheating ruins the game. But the purpose of the thread was to make people who hate the game think twice about creating another "I hate this thing" thread on the same issues that was discussed in a dozen other threads.
What's the fun in playing games that only frustrates you right?
SO have fun with the editor for a while until MP and the patch comes out...hopefully the patch fixes the corruption and other problems.:)
