What's the hardest thing you've done?

Each sunday afternoon, there are trucks all over the city which collect the concrete made by everyone. Have you been to France ? You've never noticed those big blocks on sidewalks ?
1. YES
2. NO

What do the trucks do with them - where do these blocks end up?

This is a picture of our family's betonière (the thing which make concrete). The one we've bought is all red ! I like her a lot :)

You should have seen the look on my face when I saw that! My jaw dropped...

I have never heard of regular (non-builder) families owning a cement mixer. Now I have this funny feeling that every Sunday, in French towns, there is a background humming of all these whirling mixers.

With the steady growth of Chinese demand for material, including steel, but also concrete, there are currently negociations between China and France, so we can sell them a part of our production.
The most recent estimations show it give give us 0.2% annual growth more. As France is already doing quite well this year, contrary to initial estimations, it would place France at the lead of the Euro zone.

It's like voluntary communism?

Not really, it's more private initiative supporting the national economy. As we said, it's more a custom than a law, so you do what you want, and how much you want. Some people even don't make any block at all. But their neighbour are looking at them with stern faces then.

Hardest Physical: My 25th surgery where I had my jaw reconstructed and had my mouth wired shut for a total of eight weeks. (Made the two surgeries afterwards seem like a soft punch in the shoulder)

That's about the only thing that comes to mind...I don't really consider major tests or papers or studying to be that difficult. Time consuming, yes, but not really in the category 'hardest thing you've ever done.'

Hey Marla my family has the same ! :)

Actually (and everyone can check this) the world's biggest "betonnière" maker is Legrand, a french corporation. It's no wonder, given almost every family has one in France, that's quite a large domestic market :p
