whats the highest level you have beaten

just beat deity today and was wondering how much of an achievement it is so am asking whats the highest level of play you have beaten?

without weird circumstances

by that I mean nothing stupid like starting in the future era as a duel, or starting a game with a computer ai team mate or more then one human controlled player. or some weird mod.

emperor is the highest i've beaten it on since there's been patches , though ive only played one game on emperor . I play king 99% of the time , i find king more fun as on emperor or higher i find i have to do the same thing each time to win.

i'd say it's a good achievement to beat it on diety without any silly settings/conditions.

deity, technically, but this was when you could sweep a continent with 4 horsemen.

during the more balanced patches, immortal is as far as i've gotten. i feel i can still win on it most of the time, but i stick to emperor.

I generally play at King, that's enough of a challange for me. If I've been drinking, I'll drop it down to prince though.

You're pretty hardcore if the first thing you do when you get home from a night on the booze is load up Civ5. I salute you.

Deity, but I can only do about 60% on immortal post-patch. I have not beaten deity post patch.

Giant Earth Map at Immortal with only Domination victory possible most of the time
Standart Random Map at Emperor with all the victory conditions except Time.

I play standart game speed and never play with ancient ruins.

My Deity experiences were pretty bad, being wiped out by angry neighgour like turn 50 or so.
I find it easiest to play immortal/deity on archipelago maps, because AI sucks a lot at naval assaults, but my favorite map types (apart from Gedemon's Giant Earth) are Fractal, Pangea and Lakes.

Still I find defensive pattern pretty unvaried: "citadel" in bottle necks, couple of "tank" units to absorb damage and switch places, a lot of ranged units to wipe enemy on approach. It fails only on deity, where AI just overwhelms me with crowd early in game. At Immortal and lower I managed to hold couple warmongering AI from classical to industrial and then till nukes pretty easy.

If you don't consider OCCs stupid, immortal. Otherwise I haven't really tried above King, and doubt I'd have much success except maybe getting lucky on emperor if I tried enough. I have beaten emperor before, but that was while doing something stupid (dual pangaea).

Deity pre-patch. I'm playing on immortal now but will try to move up to deity after I get the "master of the universe" achievement.

Emperor before patch as Germany. But now I play TBC which makes the game more difficult but enjoyable at the same time.

Emperor was very lucky as Napoleon and Ramses decided to duke it out while I swallowed up city state after city state and couple of neighbors. After that I turned towards them.

I find winning on immortal - standard speed - tiny oval map, kinda easy. Did a game where I had all the City states, (-1) a spaceshipp sitting at the capitol, but did a domination win for the fun of it. When I try Dieity, I die on turn 50 ish EVERY TIME! It's insane how hard it is vs Immortal.

Can se if I can't find the save and post it. (Before I nuked the out off the rest of the world)

Back to the topic, I have beaten Immortal but I was only able to do so by stacking the deck against the AI: archipelago map, Ottomans, Raging Barbs.

Otherwise, a lower level is usually good enough for a casual game with my usual Random Leader/Random Map start. I've been building civilizations that can stand the test of time since 1991 and I've come to understand that I haven't the time or the inclination to do all that must be done to consistently win the game (Any version from Civilization to CivV) at the highest levels.

I just beat the game last night for the first time on Deity, so that would have to be my best. It was a duel map, making it slightly easier, but I played through and got the culture victory with one city.. Just for fun..

So yeah, that's the best I've done.. I normally play on Emperor, but I'm also fairly new to Civ V so I'm still feeling it out.
