I just built the UN and have a decent rep, so i cast a vote, 3 for me, 3 for hiwatha.

My plan: Screw over hiwathas rep (he has beeen a steadfast ally, and now i stab him in the back, if he did this to me id be PISSED, ironic, aint it?)

The plan in detail: Sign MPP with everyone but hiwatha, then attack him to incite a global war. It dont matter if my reb is tarnished with lies and blood, as long as everyone else is more of a liar and more covered in blood than i am.

So, if i did this, what would happen to my rep? right now all of them are polite, russia is annoyed (have been since start of the game, i have gifted them every tech they dont have by 1 per turn and thye STILL hate me. Iriquois are Gracious.

I guess that Hiawatha voted Hiawatha and that you voted for you. Other civs have to be polite or gracious to vote for you. Personally - I don´t like the backstabbing theory, but as Ginger Ale said, it works. The use of multiple MPPs can be very slippery! Be careful with that. Russia is annoyed for some reason, you don´t get their vote. Why are they annoyed? Early war, annihilation of other civs they knew? Signing MPP with Russia could be a solution, but that is gambling. What about ROP?

already got ROP and won the game. The turn before elections i gifted russia from education to radio in one turn and gave them all my excess lux's.

It was enough to get their vote, i already had maya in the bag along with france.

So i won the vote by 1!

I'm yet to see an AI not willing to backstab its close ally and best friend througout the game for Fission.

Right - clean reputation and their demands for MA are surprisingly minor. Backstabbing buffoons!
