What's your Civ 3 Achilles Heel?

WLTK!! That's my first problem. I need all my cities to love me, so I'll sell my soul to the devil for sistine/jsbach's.
Wonder addiction... getting better at it though, I pass all ancient wonders.
I get into a mode of building just about everything possible, except for a courthouse in my capitol
I do build courthouses in my capitol, it will help when I switch to comunism... I just never switch to comunism  I can't whipp citicens.
Conscience. They're selling me a lux for 90, so I attack... but after taking most of their cities, I feel bad and have to return most of them... UPGRADED!
I build armies much longer than I need. I sometimes end up with over 350 units! And all just sitting there, bored... I could wipe some civs off the face of earth, but then, who will buy me all the lux and resources I've worked so hard to obtain? SO I just let them be.
Also building unnecessary units... I make lots of paratroopers and helicopters, land them in a mountain in enemy territory, then attack by land with tanks. By the end of the turn, my tanks have taken the city where soldiers landed "hey guys, what are you doing up there?" "Who cares, they're here!"

No. Even under communism the capital still suffers no corruption. Communism is my favourite govt., due to my usually huge sprawling Empire of giant cities. I can't stand to have 80% of my cities being unable to build anything.

Waiting...
In a Average Game, I build bought 2 workers and 2 settlers per city (unless there is a exception) Then after that I got tons of cities, tons of workers and about 30 mins to wait until ALL of the workers are done moving XD

Alpha... have you tried not show/animate your moves?

It used to take me ages to finish a turn... sometimes I just hurried before everyone finished. So I disabled many shows and animates, and now it goes much faster. Sometimes I just enable it again just to see some guys I'm fond of, like riflemen, I Think it's kind of KewL how they sound like shooting when they run.

Pollution has killed me more games than the persians. After replaceables, most of my cities become polluted, and not many wars are going on, so sometimes I'm just waiting for UN, cleaning up pollution... this annoyes me so much I just Shift+Ctrl+Q

BTW, is there a faster way to clean up? I just have a bunch of workers on a hill near my capital, so when there's pollution, I go to capital, wake all, Shift+P, fortify the rest and go to the affected cities and rearrange citices. How do others do?

Hmmm... I'd have to say mine would be in the micromanging of everything :scan: , games tend to take me weeks to months to complete.
Granted I don't play games on difficulty levels that are lower (ie. easier) than even odds to the A.I. (although, I also don't play too high either... playing higher than diety just are not fun to me) and I play on "Large" sized maps or bigger. Playing on those difficulty levels and rather large maps tend to add a lot of time to the games... but those two things make the games a lot more fun.
(still, sometimes the endgame takes longer than I enjoy) :hammer2:

That's a good thing. You take the time to make your games perfect. Well, maybe not perfect, but as good as you can get.

My games take weeks or months to play too. Probably because I don't spend too much time playing.

making large empires full of corruption, but I have to expand exponentionally cause I like to see my borders become everybody elses

What you need is lots of workers, I prefer slaves, hence my name. You put them in groups large enough to do the task in one turn. For Industrious civs, its 8 workers or 24 slaves before Replaceable Parts, 4 workers or 8 slaves after. If you aren't Industrious it is 12 workers, 24 slaves then 6 workers and 12 slaves. Some squares take twice as long (hills, forest) or even 3 times as long (volcanoes, mountains, jungle, swamp). By the time I hit the Industrial Age, where pollution becomes severe, I have many teams ready to go clean it up. Pollution is annoying, but it should not be tolerated long, or it will hamper your progress. Organize those workers! But not in unions!.....

Wow, I think turning off animations is like turning off the fun in battles. With animations turned off, it doesn't show any fighting, no nothing.

And yes build more workers, as TheOverseer pointed out, 2 times. ;)

My weak point is prolly (except that im still pretty new :P) that i have difficulties trading with the computer. Building embassies, using rops and getting big map/land(with rop) seldom help me. Also I still am not sure when the deal i made with AI's end. Breaking deals is baaaaaad. And this is vital on harder difficulties...

[offtopic](This Guy looks pretty angry!) Anyway, what I was going to say is, to see how much turns you have left on deals like gpt, resorces, luxeries etc. Go into the active tab in the bottom of the screen when you are making a deal with the AI. So basically. -> make contact with AI -> Go to 'We would like to offer a proposal (Or something like that) -> Active Tab. And then it will show you how much turns you have left until a deal expires. If it is past 20 turns you can choose to end the deal by clicking on it. Unless the AI does. Deals can last more than 20 turns. [offtopic]

The problem for me is that sometimes there are no numbers and i cant figure out how to remove the deal (if that means that the turns are out).

Yes, that is the easier method of finding out how much more turns are left until deals expire. :)

(EDIT) X-Post.

If there aren't any numbers, the deal has expired. I think this is how you do it: Initiate diplomacy with that leader and click on "Active" deals at the bottom. Then click on the deal that you want to remove. Then take it off the table.

Is this under the active tab? If it is, you will only be able to remove the deal if it ha lasted for more than 20 turns so, there should be some numbers stating how much more turns are left.

Also, if you made a deal like Technology for lump sum of gold and another technology, it won't last 20 turns, the deal is instant.

These are the things that will last 20 turns unless war breaks out...

Luxuries, Resources, Gold Per Turn, Alliances, Mutual Protection Pacts, Trade Embargo's. That should be all, I think.

EDIT: X-Post. Aabraxan explained how to do it, Findus. :)

i know which deals that are under turns and im in the advisor screen and i use details and click on the civ. Then i can see the turns left. But how do i end the deals? That must be the problem im facing when there are no numbers left.

Look under the middle of the "negotiating table. You should see "new" and "active." Clicking "active" will let you renegotiate or end deals.

thxs :goodjob: its wierd that ive already won few monarch games and still havent seen that :P
