Whats your favorite ethnic food outside your own ethnicity?

Italian food is one of the foods i hate the most. I hate all kinds of cheese. And i hate salads. And i dont like most other italian dishes.

I also hate butter and milk and im not lactose intolerent either. I will eat baked foods that are made from butter or milk because i cant taste it, but i wont put butter on anything.

Sometimes i wonder if im the only person who hates butter, milk and cheese but isnt lactose intolerent.

In fact whenever i smell milk even i vomit. :vomit:
Wow, how can you live with yourself? I put butter and salt on EVERYTHING!

And, to avoid spamming, I like chinese food, italian food, and mexican food. Rice, pasta, and tacos!

Indian. Need the Italians, French and Greeks, but that it just a kind of given. Gotta be the Indians (Neps esp). And the Jamacans for (in an otherwise uninspired comtribution) jerk chiken. The Portugeese contribution to Chick roasting must also be reciginised. Mex clearly the most overated. Thai also vital...

Oh and, excepting the hamburger, the americanised version of all foods is just commercianised flavorless pap.

The Crosandwitch? Shame...

do NOT make the mistake of confusing mass produced fast food for american food. thats like saying the frozen dinner of sweet and sour chicken at the store factually represents how chinese food really is and we know that isnt so. frozen food is crap and so is mass produced fast food regardless of whats being served.

Korean. Ever had kimchi? And I lived in Korea, so I mean the real deal. OTOH, I have never seen Americanized Korean food.

Also like Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Italian, Arabic, Greek.

Indian. And yes, I'm fairly sure we have the real deal here, with about 5% Indian population. :)

Gods, I *love* curry.

I dig just about any Asian type food.

Euro food can suck it. Bratwurst and beer. Where's the creativity in that?

As a matter of fact I had Americanized (I presume) Korean food yesterday!

I had:

Something called Bulgogi (sirlooin strips w/ vegetables and some sort of garlicy/gingery sauce)

Kimchi (wouldn't know if it is the real deal but the owners are clearly Korean immigrants so it is probbaly fairly close the the real deal)

Noodles w/ Vegetables

On an unrelated note, I just can't get too excited about French these days. Far too much SAUCE for my liking. For those of you who care what is in style, from a culinary standpoint, sauce is very much OUT OF STYLE.

Sounds pretty authentic. Bulgogi is an authentic Korean dish, it's just one that Americans tend to like. If you ever get a chance, try kimchi tchigae (kimchi stew) and, if you really want to taste the food of the gods, sam gyup sal.

Italian (pizza, lasagna), Brazilian (churrasco!! feijoada) and Indonesian (babi pangang, saté, nasi goreng, gado gado).

I eat lots of different things, but my favourite is indian food (esp. Chicken Tikka Masala etc.)...

I also like Thai and Chinese food, as well as foods with pesto (the green variant, when it is suitably strong and not the mild stuff you get in US).

Mexican and/or itallian. I''m also willing to try everything except sheeps's eyes. :ack:

italian food was "ethnic" back in the 50s, now its just food, unless youre eating macaroni and cheese or some other horrible meal.

i like i dunno, any food thats good. sometimes i go to this place that is owned by this arab guy with exotic foods, middle eastern and easter european, but mostly middle eastern.

and i buy all kinds of stuff that i havent had before, usually it tastes good, every once in a while its horrible.

German and Japanese (not the Americanized crap they serve in the US, the real stuff). There may be others, but I've only been stationed overseas 5 times. These were the two places my family came with me, so maybe that has something to do with my food likes.

I don't like that word "ethnic food". Food isn't a matter of ethnicity, it's a matter of culture. There are at least as many different kind of French food as there are different French regions, and that's true I guess in most countries.

But anyway, we already had tons of threads on this, including a very recent one.

Curry, got to be Indian, Authentic? Mah who cares it tastes real nice, I've had authentic but only home made, also sublime. Followed by Chinese then Itallian.
