I'm waking the others...
I find I most often get a Space Race or Conquest victory. Usually everyone hates me, so I never win Diplomatic. I never seem to be able to get enough culture for a Cultural victory, and never enough population and land area for Domination. So tell me, what is your most common type of victory?

Seeing as I finished a game twice (in 250+ hours of playing), once early with a time loss (after which I renounced time victories forever), and once not too long ago with a space race victory, I guess my most common type of victory is space race

I've finished 6 or 7 games completly and 4 of them were space race victories. :scan:

Space race always. I push the turn button over and over while I build the latest improvements makin sure to stack the latest model troops in the citys I built on the first hundred turns or so. I do this and win the game! I play in middle levels, Mybe I should raise to cheasy AI advantage levels

Space Race every time, except once when I was lagging behind Hatshepsut in building the interstellar ark... and the game surprised me pleasantly when it announced I had won a Cultural victory. (They liked me! They really liked me!)

I usually go for a Diplomatic victory. As a build-a-holic, I find it a satisfying way to stay at Prince/Monarch and still have a solid challenge. I always prepare for a Cultural victory as a backup, which inevitably kicks in before many spaceship parts hit the scene. Every now and then I happen upon a military opportunity to stuff the ballot box too.

Overall, I'd say my victories end up as 1/3 Diplomatic, 1/2 Cultural, and 1/6 Domination.

So far i have more space Victories then any other. On second place I go for Domination victory.

Domination victories here. How anyone manages to kill off everything without controlling enough land mass for victory is beyond me, I've never been able to pull off a conquest.

I always used to get time victories, which was terribly frustrating. I never aim for a time victory, and I always turn them off now. My game's gotten a lot better even in the short time I've been here, though, and I'm playing at higher levels where time might not be such a crusher. With time off, I usually run into domination if I'm warmongering, or space race if things stay peaceful. Of course, I've gotten much better at losing, too, and my losses are almost always to space race.

I always keep my eyes open for Domination Victory that's the most rewarding one then Diplomatic but that's quite rare so about little over half of my games ends to Space Victory and if I start on island I think Culture too.

How do you achieve "Cultural" win in the Warlords expansion anyway? I see that you need 3 cities with "Legendary" culture but what is considered legendary?

Cultural. First, I tend to develop one or two cities for Culture. I usually manage to found three religions and as the game moves on I maintain enough of a military to not become easy pickin's. Once I get to manufacturing Space Race parts I spread any available religions, build temples everywhere then build cathedrals, etc. in my strongest culture cities and I switch their production to Culture. Once I've researched the last Space Race tech I lower the Research slider to zero and max out the Culture slider.

Usually I get a Cultural victory a few turns before I would have finshed the Space Race.

Space Race is most common, the second place is Cultural.
I am just too lazy for centuries of conquest.
But since Warlords I have more Diplomation wins than before.

how do you win conquest victory? when you control certain percentage of the world, the game will stop and you win domination victory.

You start razing before you reach the ~2/3 third mark or if your quick enough you finish everyone off before 10 turns pass after reaching passing the ~2/3 third mark (but this is bad for your score since all that captured pop and land doesn't count), or you can simply turn off domination victory.

Domination is actually slower in my experience. The percentage of the world that you control for Domination victory purposes is measured by the amount of land within your cultural boundaries - not by the amount of land that you've conquered. If you've razed a lot of cities then it will take far longer to expand your cultural boundaries within conquered land. IIRC, all culture producing buildings within a city are automatically razed at the time of its capture and any Wonders therein cease to produce culture for you. You are essentially starting from scratch in building culture in a captured city.

Domination or Conquest I can win cultural and diplomatic victories to cos the ones voting no will be a part of my nation after my wars. I have high culture great and lots of gold and a huge army and even bigger air force and a big navy to so I´m always wining but now i play a ww2 scenario as Sovejt and thats not going well

the percentage you have to control is based on the number of land tiles on the map. so if you raze cities rather than capture them, the percentage of the world you control doesn't go up.

my latest conquest victory was warlords. i knocked out 2 civs early, got a vassal, wiped out another, then got the last 2 to vassal to me. the population/land area of your vassals counts 50% towards the domination limit for you, which is safer than capturing the cities yourself if you're trying to avoid domination. and it's just quicker than taking every last city, as long as they won't cause problems later on. my map was archipelago so i knew i'd not run into culture issues with their remaining cities, and it would have been a pain to capture them, so i went with the vassal option.

if i want domination rather than conquest (or vice versa) i hit F8 every once in a while just to watch how close close i'm getting to the land limit.

as far as my victories types, i don't think i've won a diplomatic victory since i came back to playing civ4, except once where i had enough votes by myself which i don't count, doesn't prove to me that i can do it. i ought to try that soonish.

hmm... never thought to try to win a diplomatic game that didn't include capturing enough cities to vote myself in. might be worth a shot.
