I know that a lot of people's opinion after NFP has soured them on Firaxis but I'm still to be defeniately disappointed in their approach, I still regularly and often play virtually of the Civ games (bar the first two), and enjoy them almost equally.

So I still have a lot of Faith in Firaxis to not mess it up like other games that I used to enjoy (like the Sims series).

I'll probably buy it, or not, based on which Civs are in it at launch. If its mostly the usual suspects (Britain, China, France, India, etc.) I'll probably wait for the first DLC unless there is massive gameplay change that I think is interesting enough.

I have been a Civ Junky since my days in at the University in 1993 playing CIv 1 which took like a hour or more to move your unit all the way from Japan to Western Europe for how slow the computers were at the time and the game itself. I have well over 5000 hours on Civ 5 and over 6000 hours on CIv 6 according to Steam.

Well, I took a long time to buy into the Civ6 trend. I started nearly three months ago in December. Based on that, it will take me a while to get geared for Civ7. It might take me a while to review my thoughts on Civ6, but so far it wins in my books on the all-important fun to play metric.

Straight away. Basically I know that I'm going to love the game for a good while before whatever flaws start to really jump out to me, and then patches and DLC, etc. will bring me back in. And while I'm sure some people had gripes about NFP, that one was a godsend for me, trickling out during the early Pandemic days as something I could just keep getting excited about. I have no issues with Firaxis right now. That said, I'm a Mac-user, so my issues with Aspyr are very present and felt, but yeah, I'm picking up Civ 7 on Day One.

Civ5 soured me on the franchise for a while so I did not jump on the civ6 bandwagon right away, but this time I'm ready to. Firaxis' recent releases have all been hits for me.

You know, I constantly see posts here from people rather indignantly swearing to never pre-order another Civ game again, never buy a Civ game on release again, never trust Firaxis, etc.

So in that context, these poll results are quite funny

If my laptop somehow manages to fail at handling the game's minimum requirements, or if the release is somehow particularly disastrous in terms of AI combat capabilities (I mean, even for standards of strategy video games obviously, at this point I expect a decent hot dog, not an Italian culinary masterpiece), I may postpone the purchase in order to avoid torturing myself
