So when was it? I got my first modem (a 9600K one) and AOL when I was 15, in the late summer of 1994. When did you first "get connected"?

Do you mean the current internet or our first internet?

Okay.. you opened two threads on this. EDIT: Just read your reply Narz :D

I first started using the Internet at home on a regular basis in 95 on a 14.4 kbps modem, I believe through Prodigy.

We then upgraded to Microsoft Network, and I also used Net Zero for some time so we could have two computers on simultaneously.

Now for the past two years I've been on DSL through SBC.

a couple of years ago, i think it was back in 1997... whew, five years already?

1991. That was the year the local university made Internet access available to the general public. Before that, there were no ISPs available. I was a local BBS hound until then. Big change.

When I was still at school - where's the 94 or 95 ish option? :p

I'll go for 1995, as that's probably when I started to use it more then very infrequently.

I was a bit late on the internet scene.

I first started playing around on the internet on my friend's computer in about 1998, with a 28k modem. I remember downloading files to be painfully slow.

I finally got my own "internet-capable" computer in 1999. And once introduced to broadband there was no stopping me.

Probably 1995, when my dad got connected, not sure though. At first a harmless approach to it, but later, when I got my 28k modem (yay!) things finally started rocking. Then came the 56k modem which I stuck with, until I finally got this lovely broadband connection, 512 kbit.

Around early January 1999. My dad bought the family those brand new iMac's with the CD-Rom tray in which you press the button and the tray clicks out and you have to pull it out yourself. Boy the internet was an experience! I was inexperienced in the internet though and ended up having an internet girlfriend a week later. Now I'm more experienced and am not as gullible as before.

Uh oh, I'm showing my age here (along with Switch).

Can you say, 'Mosaic?'

At school in about 1997.
Only home connected at the beginning of 2001.

I used the Internet on an infrequent basis back around 1994, but really started embracing it around 1997.

Lynx first, then Slipknot, then Mosaic, then Netscape, and finally (shudder) Internet Exploder.
