I was wondering if anyone has ever witnessed a raging wild animal attack a fellow barbarian archer, warrior, etc?

I would hope that the animals would not discriminate.

Animals & regular barbarians never appear on the map together. As soon as barb warriors/archers show up, all animals disappear.

I've seen animals attack AI scouts, though. (The AI usually wins.)

Actually, that's not true! I was playing a game yesterday where a barbarian archer and an animal were only a few squares away from each other. Unfortunately, the animal disappeared into the fog and the barbarian beelined towards me. That was the only time I'd ever seen animals and barbs simultaneously.

I saw a bear and a barbarian archer at the same time in my most recent game. I doubt they attack each other though.

The next thing you'll be asking is "Do the lions get on with the wolves?" and "Do panthers attack bears?" or even "Do barbarian axemen attack archers?"

So... Do barbs ever STEAL a worker?
:P

I had a barb steal a worker, but I don't think that he had it run away, the worker just died.

I saw the barb, but the worker had one more turn to finish a road and the barb was two squares away. Then my borders expanded and since I had captured the Great Wall it moved the barb right next to my worker. Ouch!

Yeah the barbs kill the workers. So does the AI (in Warlords anyway) unless they built the worker (i.e. you stole it off them). I think it's a game balance/anti exploit thing so that you can't entice the AI to nab a worker and then kill the unit and get your worker back. I remember doing that on vanilla, stupid AI.

I've had animals and warriors pop from huts too, but I believe that was the only time.

What bugs me about barbs more is that they seem to attack my units before the AI. Maybe I'm just remembering the lame deals I've gotten, but I know I've had situations where my warrior is on a forested hill while the AI warrior is on unprotected grassland (both tiles adjoining the barb) and the dang barb archer would go after MY warrior.

I think I recall being on the SAME square as an AI unit and yet when the barb attacked it was my unit that defended... And the AI had a better unit...

Anyone else find that barbs are NOT equal opportunity in this way? Maybe I should run some tests in WB to be sure I'm not just a whiner.

I saw animals and barbs pop from huts too, today in fact.

I agree with the biased attack thing, if you stack your units with AI units the animals always go for you. Think of it as free XP!
