When should the actual game start?

What actions do we need to complete before we can start?

Here's my list:

Decide on the way to choose the civ we are playing.
Decide on the way to choose the opponent civs.
Make a decision on Vanilla vs Warlords.
Ratify the initial constitution.
Elect the initial group of DP's.
Elect the initial officers.

*edit* to compile a full list
Decide on other map options.
Decide on HoF mod/no mod.

Let's set a deadline of March 1 to have all of this done.

ps- please supplement this with any other items required to begin.

I absolutely agree with you :goodjob:

I'm going to go with the good ol' Insurgency Mod saying: "When we're ready"

As to how long it will take us to get ready, as much time as we need. Although at the current rate it looks like somewhere within February.

When we're ready is, of course, the best idea.

Well, I'd say we need to accomplish a few things first like decide what civ we're going to play, etc. Then of course we'll have to contend with those who worship the calender and want terms to start on the first of the month. So we'll prolly just not do anything for two or three weeks and then try to rush to get things ready to start March 1.

I think all those little details have been polled already, we know what the majority wants, so i guess we are going to start soon. But since i dont "worship the calendar (at least until we discover it  )", i guess anytime in february would be great... we should make march 1 the deadline for starting since i dont really wanna start later than that... we could at least start the game to settle people and discussion on a concrete situation other than wasting to much time on pre-game discussion... not saying we are wasting time for now, but for sure, after march 1, everything pre-game should have been said.

and it seems like donsig wants to play, am i right? :mischief:

just adding my 2 golds per turn

well:

Decide on the way to choose the civ we are playing.
polled in-game randomizer, about 66% (2/3) wants it (28 peeps voted
Decide on the way to choose the opponent civs.
polled full random, about 85% wants it (31 peeps voted)
normal quantity of opponent for map size (100% of 8 peeps)
Make a decision on Vanilla vs Warlords.
polled vanilla so everyone can play AND check the game
Ratify the initial constitution.
polled the ratification (yes we want that constitution) about 75% (40peeps voted)
Elect the initial group of DP's.
still needs to be done
Elect the initial officers.
still needs to be done
Decide on other map options.
i think we need more peeps to vote in these polls for them to be realistic of what the community thinks
standard size (81% of 11 peeps)
continents (50% of 10 peeps, 20% pangaea and 30% fractal)
temperate climate (63% of 8 peeps)
average water level (55% of 9 peeps)
normal speed (100% of 11 peeps)
prince and monarch difficulty ex equo (40% of 9 peeps)
Decide on HoF mod/no mod.
is this the only mod we are thinking about? if so, well the decision isnt concrete :crazyeye:
40% wants HoF, 40% wants no mod and 20% abstain... (25 peeps voted)

Decide on HoF mod/no mod.

I believe that you can't (easily) use the HoF mod together with other mods. (I believe you can use Blue Marble, but that's a graphics only mod, so there's no point in polling it, everyone can decide for themselve.)

The sooner the better. I am already starting to lose interest in the game because of this long lag.

Cool - so you'll develop and post the initiative on either Elections or Offices, right? 'Cause that you really help reduce the lag, which you don't like.

If I get my college work done and out of the way first ;).

Then why complain about it not starting! The game will take more of your time than this will!

Enjoy the break, and try to get a bit ahead!

hmmm... The map scripts poll is looking a bit like trouble... Presently there isn't a majority... In that case I suppose we poll the first and second most-popular choices? Or every choice that got over 30% of the vote?
(I suggest the second because that ought to deal with a three-way tie, and I don't anticipate any ties larger than three-way)

Or wait, did we already come up with a rule for run-off polls while I was away or not looking?
