It seems pretty healthy to me. It would be most endangered if TF moved on and stopped maintaining it. But it seems likely that he could pass it on to someone else if he ever left.

And of course it's fate is linked to that of Civilization. As long as Atari or a successor continues producing updated versions, CFC could continue to operate indefinitely.
People are still producing stuff for Civ 2 -- YEARS after it was released -- but I think that CFC would at best maintain it's popularity -- it would not gain a lot of new members -- if the Civ franchaised dies out.

That is true. I think, if Atari disappeared today, CFC would stay popular for at least another year or so. After all, people are going to keep on playing Civ3 until it is horribly outdated or they get bored of it.
I think if Conquests or Civ4 never came out, and Atari went broke, only the hardcore members would stay, like the people who play the GOTM, SGs, C&C, and post in Off-Topic.

I've wondered this myself. It depends on what you mean by "end." Here's my prediction:
As long as the Civilization series remains popular, this site will remain strong. I predict the Civ series to remain popular for as long as Sid Meier puts his name on it, which I assume would be for quite a while. Even a few years after the last Civ game, there would still be a fairly strong fan base, much like the current Civ2 fan base. It'd probably be enough for a site for a decade after the last game, and then the site would get such little support that it would dissappear from the Internet (try looking for a Need For Speed [the original] site, for comparison--you can't find one, AFAIK--they've all gone away). Therefore, I predict this site to last for another 25 years, meaning that after that it will either not exist, or will have maybe one visitor a week.
This is also assuming nothing sudden happens (such as Thunderfall leaving and deciding he doesn't want it to continue), and that how the Internet works doesn't change. It also assumes that the Civilization series doesn't continue on for infinity.

Wouldn't he most likely "pass the torch" onto someone else, though? I doubt he would decide to just give it all up.... Unless by "last" you mean "continue," in which TF would just leave and this site would remain static (and maybe he'd get someone else to pay for it). On second thought, when giant radioactive monkeys become so advanced and common that they are both reasonable to mention and not funny, all CFC polls will probably implode.
It wouldn't feel like CFC w/o TF.

CFC will end when I leave here. 
Really though, i think it will live on for maybe another 5 years. Just becuase.
I think TF might resign within that time, but might just let the Super-mod (lefty) be the admin.
