I voted Other. I will wait, but not necessarily for patches or the price to come down. I will wait and see what the reaction is on this forum, both to the game itself and to running it through steam.

If people report game-breaking bugs then obviously I will wait for those to be patched.

I will also be interested to hear what the modding community think of it. I don't mean waiting until mods are actually released, I just would like to hear experienced modders views on what they think will be possible with civ5.

I am a bit confused with all alot of people saying they will not buy the game because of steam. If I am reading these comments correctly, are these people saying you can only purchase Civ V on Steam only and not in stores like EB Games, Gamespot or Wallmart?

People will not be buying the game because it will REQUIRE Steam be installed on your computer to use (and they do not like Steam/DRM/DLC/Various other reasons). You can still buy the game in a store, but you will HAVE to download and install Steam for it to work.

You won't need to download steam. It'll be on the disk and it'll install along with all the other files required to run the game.

I think I'll wait 3-6 months to see what is the initial reception about the game, read forums and such and make up my mind whether the game deserves money or not. Civ 4 vanilla was a letdown for me for some reason, the Warlords and BtS versions were much better.

i just got civ 4 last year, so chances are that i won't be getting civ 5 for a few years, if at all, since i'm not liking some of the changes they've made. but yeah, i usually wait for stuff anyway. if lots of people on here like it, then i'll probably get it, like i said, in a few years.

I will wait for a steam'd version. thank you very much. that will be maybe 2~3 months later. :P

I put that I'll buy it on release day, but I'll probably wait a few days. These things never seem to come out on a convenient day.

i'll probably wait a bit, have to see what my schedule is like and if I'll have time to even play the first few months

Finding about about compulsory Steam, and 0day DLC today has really dampened my excitement for this. I'm actually not sure what I am going to do now. :(

I'll wait until after I learn how to win C5 via strategy posts in the forums.

I imagine if Steam or whatever slows down those posts, it'll slow down my buying the game as well.

I don't know what I'll do. I'm not even going to say I'll buy the game until I see more information about it. At this point, I could go so far as to preorder it or go so far as to not even buy it. Depends on what I hear in the coming months.

You won't need to download steam. It'll be on the disk and it'll install along with all the other files required to run the game.

However you will need to activate the game online and inevitably Steam will require an update at that point, which depending on the size of the update might be practically downloading the program anyway. Note that Steam itself is not particularly big - it would only be the slightest of issues if you're on a dial up or similar connection.

Not buying or preordering it without the minimum/recommended system requirements and the demo.

:yumyum:I'll buy it on release day (my vote) unless I find a good deal for pre-order close to the date. :yumyum:

Steam's a downer I reckon but I'll bear with it. :(:bounce:

If it was another game I'd wait and get it cheap but civ's always been good and they won't stuff it up this time round either. And they're finally using hexs - I can't wait. :bounce:

I will pre-order it, I think, but not now, I will wait a lil bit more.

I'll wait a few months to see how the bugs shake out.

That should put the purchase into the holidays, so I'd expect the first batch of patches and a $10 price drop to coincide with the time of year that I finally get enough time to actually enjoy playing.
