Hi, I did post in the newbie section but I think I should have posted here.

I was the first to found christianity but for the life of me I cannot/do not know where to find the holy city . I read so many threads/walkthroughs and I am still none the wiser (I think I have battle fatigue)! Also how would I reconize a city as the holy city; does it have a special sign (tag)?

Regards ..... John

Yes. On the religion icon above the city name on the map, there will be a little asterisk in the upper right corner of the icon if that city is the holy city. Yes, it's very difficult too see and I have no idea why it was too much trouble to put that information on the city screen.

Also, you can review the game log to see which city got named as the holy city when the religion was founded. The message pops up when the event happens, so if you look sharp when you discover the tech you'll know immediately.

Thank you for the info on how to identify the holy city Frizzy but if you're still around could you tell me where the game log is kept:confused: , I can only say in my defense is that I have been up all night playing this game and my brain is addled from lack of sleep!

Somewhere in the upper left corner of the main screen there's a pulldown for it. I don't remember where exactly. Hover over the right one and it'll tell you, then click on it.

Take a look at the religious advisor (F7) ... it gives you the name of each Holy City (if you have discovered it on the map)!

Does it? I should know that by now .

I guess I've always assumed the religious advisor is as useless as the cultural advisor in Civ3.

Actually, all advisors are very very useful now. I also suggest installing the BUG mod that improves them even more (without altering gameplay).

. . . but very very slowly,

Not necessarily, it's completely a random thing. I've seen games where my religion spreads to all my cities within a few turns, other times I'm waiting forever for certain cities to take it.

Your event log is in the upper left corner and it looks like a little opened book. But, as the others say, you can also just look on the religious advisor screen anytime to see what all the holy cities are.
