Às title say, I remember those great mods made by for example Kael and other for Civ IV, remade tech tree's, longer periods, and alot of cool stuff. The only modpack I have seen for Civ V that is close to those CiV 4 mods are: "History in Making II". But that is outdated and stopped (?).

Sry if this have been asked b4 or I am totally blind and cant find those big great mod packs.

First of all, wrong forum. This forum is for files and direct discussion of them; questions and random comments go in the main C&C forum. I'll notify a moderator.

Second of all, a lot of the "great" mods of Civ 4 came out long after the game's release, and most of the really extensive ones required the DLL SDK, which we haven't received yet.

Third of all, there are quite a few mods that add a lot to the game, and if you don't like it, you could always make your own instead of complaining.

It may have been helpful to mention some of those mods spaz

Apache, i have run across three that seem fairly extensive and are currently still being updated, etc. thus far.
I tend to like mods that make the game longer, are well balanced and thought out, and more complicated (Love love love love humungously huge tech trees).

Thals, which are extremely well balanced imo:

Hulgruffs

the thing I like about Hulgruffs is more techs, and more resources that make sense, you have to convert resources you gain on the map and from buildings into other resources via buildings, among other things, some units as well. While this mod dosn't feel quite as polished as Thal's (and the policies don't feel as worthwhile to me as they are in thal's), Its being updated regularly and worked on with tender loving care. Definitely worth playing.

I havent played this yet, I like the sound of most of it, except for the tech pyramid which turned me off to it for now (but to all their own :)), if i read the thread correctly though, it sounds like he is going to go back to a more traditional tech tree in the next version.

This isnt a complete list as far as I can tell, but these are the mods that I have found that interest me :).

Also, your thread will probably be moved by a moderator.

Edit: keeping half an eye on Spaz's mod, but waiting till it is more complete to jump in.

It seems like 2k taking their bloody time in releasing the SDK is really holding the modders back, so may be useful to go B**** them out in their own forums ;) lol. after which your thread will probably get deleted or locked or you banned! jk (well not really....)

Sry that I posted on wrong part of forum. I am playing the CiVUP - Civ V Unofficial Patch, and it is updated every day. But that is more like patching then adding new units, civ's, tech, politics and so.
I am sorry if I did offend anybody if they feal offended by the title of the thread.
Is for example Kael working on something nice? He have done allot of great stuff for earlier civ's. I have seen his name in some mods butt that is not like this previews big projects he have done.

I think you perceived the first answer more harsh than it was meant to be ;).
Read it again, it's not meant in this way ;).

I believe Kael works for Stardock now, and is busy trying to make Elemental and/or its sequel into a halfway decent strategy game. I doubt he will be doing anything with Civ 5.

Correct. Kael's been gone from here since early December, and most likely won't be coming back now that he has that full-time job.

There are quite a few mods that add new content, as in new techs, units, polices, etc., if you want more than just a balance patch like CiVUP. Some of them are fairly extensive by now, to the point where it starts to feel like a different game. But there is not now, and will not be in the near future, anything on the scale of a Fall from Heaven. Those sorts of "total conversion" mods require DLL modifications, and we haven't been given access to the sorts of files needed for that yet. Even once we have the DLL, it'll take time before you see even alpha versions of those sorts of things, partially because many of the most active Civ 4 modders are no longer part of this community, so the new folks will be learning as they go.

So don't hold your breath.

Do you happen to know the reason why so many civ4 modders have left the community?

There are several reasons. A few just don't like civ v. Others got tired of waiting for dll release. The majority just have not made the switch however. It's not unexpected that many modders didn't want to pack shop and start fresh in v.

So in all honesty... We don't really have big chances for total conversion mods a'la civ 4? :(

We do! They will take the DLC for the full conversions we used to see. However, keep an eye on some of the big big big ones in teh works:

Community Call to Power Project
Civilization NIGHTS
Spatz's Alpha Centauri Mod

Who are you callin' "big"? I've been trying to diet, so you didn't have to be so mean... *sniff*

Kidding aside, while my mod IS pretty extensive, it probably won't change drastically once the DLL comes out. I've basically spent so much time balancing around the limitations of the current engine that I don't really feel like starting the process over again once the new tools are available. If other folks come up with some useful functions and such I might integrate those (in the same way that I appropriated Whys' Building Resources and Custom Notifications utilities), but beyond that I'm not sure what I'd change.

I'm working on a giant project, gonna need some helping hands, if any are left, haha.

Forgotten Tribes. :)
