Where ye from?

I'm Belgian, 100%, though I've spent 7 of my near 16 years of existence in America. (from a bit after my 6th to a bit before my 13th birthday to be exact) 't Was cool.

Right now I'm in Brazil with my dad, but I live in the U.S. during the Summer, and I go to a boarding school in England

'nother Canadian here :P

Nationalities don't intrest me much, I try tojudge a person by who they are, not what they are.

Case-in-point: I'm no fan of the American government, but I have no problems with Americans.

American. Background 95% German.

Approve of Bush. Approve of the war, just not that tactics. We can fight radical Muslims in Baghdad or we can fight them in New York and Los Angeles.

Catholic Christian here. Also not a fan of the Canadian inferiority complex Edge brings up, but I don't know any Canucks to judge anything off of. Going to Europe in about two years and I plan on living in London for a semester and I am going to hit up Belgium, Netherlands, Germany (People here have said they are from there) and I will definitely be staying in Roma and hitting up Naples.

Well said. I was counting the pages until some one finally came up with an informed opinion about America. Thankfully we only got to page 3 so this board is in better shape than I thought.

Now on topic: I'm American. I suppose I could go on about what parts of Europe my ancestors are from, but I really don't care to. My ancestors were proud to call themselves Americans after their long journey here, and more importantly, they didn't accept any help from the government to get by. I'm proud of my ancestors because they assimilated into American culture and didn't whine and complain about social injustice, even though they faced discrimination themselves. They didn't come here and demand that people speak their language, or offer them handouts. They came here with nothing and worked for everything here. They were real Americans.

Canadian from Vancouver. Most Canadians with half a brain don't blame the American people for mistakes made by their leadership. Just like most of the world isn't blaming us for our PM Harper torpedoing an African aid agreement at the G8 last week.

Another Canuck here. I was born in the Netherlands but lived most of my life in Montreal, Quebec until Nov '02 when I moved to Kanata (sub of Ottawa), Ontario. My roots are mostly Dutch (Friesian and Nordic) with a dose of Semetic blood from a great grandfather. I have no affiliation with any religion and I am rather centrist - if not cynical - in my politics. :)

Far be it for me to comment on American politics, these days we have our own high political theatre in Canada, and living in the nation's capital I am blessed to dwell in the neurotic nadir of the country!

Jesus your pro-Bush types really are on the defensive these days, arent you? I suppose I cant blame you, when all your policies have been exposed as terrible, your main project for domination of the middle east has turned out to be an unmitigated, unprecedented slaughterhouse of a disaster which now cant be profited from because "The greatest army on earth" is incapable of subdueing 10,000 poorly trained, barely armed, religious nutcases and a ragtag alliance of nationalists and Iranian agents, advisors to your govt are being locked up, the judiciary of your country cleary thinks you are running a small scale gulag which creates even more resentm, ent towards your country...

I could go on, but there literally isnt enough time.

No need to be defensive, we know its not your fault, its the enemies of freedom at their nefarious work again

I wasn't aware of any pro-Bush people on here. The guy is a colossal disappointment as a president for failing to persecute the Iraq war effectively and selling this country out to Mexico with his terrible immigration ideas.

Do you think maybe the idea of, as opposed to the execution of the war, was badly handled?

Hindsight is always 20/20. It was inevitable that Saddam would have to be removed by force. However, the administration had absolutely no plan of how to deal with the country after Saddam had been overthrown. Now we have a situation where staying there has become costly, but leaving would be even more costly. There just seems to be no correct answer for how to end the chaos.

EDIT: Let's not hijack this thread. If you wish to continue this, let's take it to PM.

Yeah fair enough, I have to break the habit! I have a tendency to not be able to resist taking the bait.

Did you miss Drew Tate's post?

why could he not just be left be, at no time in the past has saddam ever posed a threat to the US or the UK, only iran (hardly the wests best friend) and kuwait, which was succesfully defended and saddam was not gonna try that again.

I'm Welsh as in from Wales, and its not a district of England, it was a country before England and only the English dislike us, but hey, at least they know who and where we are!

peace:)

I'm danish - living in Aarhus, Denmark - the small Scandinavian country covertly trying to take over The European Union from the inside. :D

(We still haven't decided wether to go for a cultural or diplomatic victory though... )

America can't leave Iraq now, they destabilized the country and put it on the brink of civil war. If America leaves now they will lose all credibility. I'm surprised by how many fellow canucks are in this forum.
