Where ye from?

@mjs0: that would only be cool if you had 4 computers, but then I suppose the expansion would cost you about $100 too.
4 computers...check!
Expensive hobby...check! (well actually not as expensive as some, but the AOE license was friendlier!)
Quality family time...priceless! :)

Odd. I agree with most of that :) Not all of it, but still.

Oh, I'm an American living in northern New Jersey, the most densely populated area of one of the most densely populated states in the country. And I like it.

My family (great-grandmother on my mother's side) is from Naples. It's a place my family really wants to visit one day.

Do I approve of Bush and the war? It's complicated. No I don't think it was wrong to go to war, and yes I do think it's wrong the way it's being waged now, because unfortunately to win you have to be willing to inflict civilian casualties and we just don't want to. So we will not accomplish anything while we use our military as a police force instead of the aggressive killing force it's trained to be.

My brother is being shipped to the middle east soon, and he volunteered to go. Signed up and told em that's where he wanted to go. Not everybody is as anti-war as the internet makes it seem :) You'd be surprised how many people are eager to go fight in, and for, Iraq. Not that it's ever wrong to be on the side of peace, but I have to wonder why some people are anti-war. I think some people just resent America butting in on world affairs like we should become isolationists again. Oh well, too bad I say. Lots of food and money gets shipped out of my country for other countries and I don't approve of it, but those countries sure do! And sometimes we need to further our own interests abroad. It's been occuring since history began.

You'd have a different opinion of current events too if you witnessed 9/11 with your own eyes (I have tons of photos, taken because I originally thought I was watching a fire in one of the towers). You'd want to sign up and fight, I guarantee it. You wouldn't be so anti-war. Witnessing an event like that changes you. Makes you realize how vulnerable you really are, and that makes you realize that action must be taken.

They say war changes a man. I say tragic events like 9/11 also change a man. And since I'm a bit of a history buff I look upon current events with an optimistic eye, and remember the dramatic changes that occured within Germany and Japan after WWII. I really do. I'm being optimistic about all this. That's my nature.

Interesting Thread... I would not have guessed that there are SO many folks here from outside the U.S.A. And basically y'all speak (write) very good english!!

I was born in Philadelphia - went to college in Ohio & ended up staying there 15 years. Moved to the Dallas, Texas area 22 years ago.

My ancestors are mostly from the Brittish Isles - long ago - Welsh & Scottish. My maternal grandmother was from France - met my grandfather during WW1 and moved here to marry him in something like 1917.

Conservative. Support the President.

If you look in a poll made a while in Off-Topic, there are actually more people from Europe than from the US. :)

i'm pretty sure that there is either a decent balance, or a little more weight on the Euro side. But like a previous poster said, a lot of critical opinions of America (slightly displaced as a hefty majority of our citizens are relatively unhappy with our current situation). It is more fair to say that there is a highly unpopular opinion of the U.S. government, it's policies, and current "regime".

Oh people are talking ethnically here.
I am:
69% Icelandic, 25% Australian and 6% Danish.
My mother is 50/50 Aussie-Icelandic and my father is 1/8 Danish.

If we go further back I'm pretty sure my Icelandic fore mothers were Irish Celts, and my fore fathers Norwegian. It's like that for most Icelanders and heck, can my family drink alcohol, like the Irish. But I'm tall and blond with blue eyes, typical Icelander.

My Australian grandfather also had Celtic fore fathers (Welsh).

I support the EU, because then Iceland only gets richer than the others because we're not in it. It's obvious who's going well and who's not. Iceland and Norway are on fire economically and we are not in the EU.
I don't support Bush.
Besides him and his government, I think America is a good country. Just a few stupid people who make up a stereotype of the country that so many are trailer-trash that don't know what's the capital of their own country or that Islam is a religion.
I'm a religious Lutheran Protestant and go to church every Sunday.
Still I support that homosexual people can have the rights to marry.
I don't care about the Euro. If countries wish to have it, they may. If Iceland starts talking about the EU, which is unlikely, maybe within 10-15 years so we don't have to take all the Romanian and Bulgarian people in and pay for some other nations that are poorer than us. If that happens I'll maybe start making my mind up about this god-blessed Euro.

If Bush was a leader in the game, what traits would we give him? Charismatic? NOT Spiritual? MAYBE Imperialistic? DEFINITELY Creative? NOT

No, it's all a lie! Everyone on the internet is 'merican.

Canada is a myth that mothers tell their children to get them to go to sleep.
