What!? You mean we're asking APOLYTON to help!?

(hmm... suspect #1.. SunTzu.) j/k!

What if someone here had an issue with Choke on another forum? Does Choke visit any other forums and/or knows anyone there from here? I'm not going to mention names, but I've seen people threaten someone on another board about doing someone on a completely different forum... That's just a theory, though.

Someone already posted a link about that. ;)

That reminds me, I'd like to thank ming for helping this thread stay on topic and providing plenty of objective viewpoints to consider.

Not just me... other people have too. It's good to see other people care about this.

It would be so easy for people to ignore it... sweep it under the carpet... turn it into a spam fest hoping it will go away... But issues like this shouldn't go away. It's just not fair to posters like Choke... who for no reason, and with no notice was just banned.
It's one thing to get banned (in your opinion) for something you don't agree with. Modding is a matter of opinion and rules interpretation... At least a reason is given, and you are notified... and it's posted in the ban thread so other mods can judge for themselves. But that's not what happened in this case. What happened in this case just sucks...
Don't you agree.

no

We all agree Ming. Well, almost all...

TF has apologized on the mystery person's behalf to Choke, I dont see what else can be done until the new bulletin board is ready.

The moral of the story is PM TF if you find yourself banned sans explanation.

well i myself will continue to have horrible nightmares until this crime is solved :(

I agree. Of course some did try and turn it into a spam thread, shame on them, obviously they have failed to see themselves from choke's perspective.

I agree wholly.

I agree, in fact, I could not possibly agree more. Occasionaly a user gets upset when they are banned for what they felt was an unfair reason. Usually their ban was somewhere in the grey areas but they learn at the end that that will constitute a ban. Now we have to ask "What could choke have learned from this ban?" The only thing he could learn is to not post here, because he can't expect fair treatment. That's the opposite of what we try to show people. The purpose of bans are to help correct a poster, this was a stupid peurile whim carried out by someone who fails to see the picture, and fails to respect the fact that the posters make them mods. Without posters, there aren't a need for mods. Even though this site is NOT a democracy, I still feel posters deserve the right to at least be banned for a reason. There was no reason here, and probably a foolish motive behind it, if any. What choke got he did not deserve. Yes, he could've contacted TF sooner and been unbanned but he didn't. Realistically he should NOT have had to. He should've NEVER been banned in the first place.

It's an absolute mockery of the moderators of this site that this has happened. I completely condemn this action, and ask that the party responsible AT LEAST tell TF, it's just absolute cowardice to hide now.

Well... the choices now for the guilty are simple.

The person can continue their silence... insuring that they are the only one aware of their own shame and cowardice. People like that shouldn't be mods... they are nothing but pond scum.

Or the person can admit they did it... insuring the distain of many posters and fellow mods, but at least earning some respect back by standing up and excepting responsiblity for their actions.

We all make mistakes in our lives... the true test of adulthood is how we deal with those mistakes. Nobody can blame another for making a mistake, but people can blame another for being a coward.

Even if the person never comes forward, at least they have to live with the fact they are a coward... nobody else will know, but they will ;)

Unfortunately, this is the most likely option. :(

If the person came forward, this thread is over, they've earned a shred of respect from some, and lost it from others, but either way they don't have to keep hiding like a little coward.

We can only hope.

well one good thing about this horrible act of forum terrorism is that it is giving lots of posts to the forum.

I find that strangely, non-humorous. Remember, this is a serious topic ;)

serious topic eh? hmmmmmm no not really, its just serious for activists who have nothing else to do ;)

This is the attitude that is dangerous here. It's not just that one user was banned, it's that this is sending a message to posters that you can be banned if a mod decides they don't like you. Maybe more of us should be "serious activists," especially moderators whose credibility is attacked by this act of cowardice.

yeah, i'm one of a kind switch :goodjob:
