I'd say the best city to live in is the best one you feel the most comfortable in.

Technically, I read something about a U.N. report on cities' quality of life, and the highest rated was Singapore, Singapore. So, uh, yeah.
Singapore is a good place to live and work in. :)

The public transport runs on time, down to the minute. Taxes are low; public security is excellent. Lots of shopping everywhere. Excellent schools. Many gardens and parks. Very clean, everywhere.

Except for the high cost of housing (though it's still lower than most other major cities out there), it's not too bad here. :)

Having spent what was definately the best 4 months of mylife in London, that city is by far my choice. However, I have only visited London and Dublin of the cities on the list.

You are missing two extremely high quality cities on this list: Tokyo and Singapore.

I've never been to Singapore, but I really want to. That place is the cleanest you could ever get. You know the black spots on the sidewalks you see in every large city? That's chewing gum. Yes it is, I have scratched the black part off with a paper clip and it was white. In Singapore, they forbid chewing gum on the streets, so there's no black spots on the sidewalk. There are NO traffic jams there, and hardly ANY crime. The only problem that I see, is the hot weather and the air travel distance from where I live.

Tokyo is the best city one can get without imposing the harsh fines and canings of Singapore (well, they don't cane anymore, but that's besides the point). Paris has the best metro in Europe, but it pales in comparison to Tokyo's. Tokyo not only has a combination of trains that go both above AND underground, but their trains are accurate down to the second. Their ticket system is the most accurate I've ever seen, with hundreds of people traveling through seven gates within seconds. And the Japanese people are naturally clean, usually quite a few are wearing those filter masks. Sure they might be a bit gloomy, but whatever.

Which leads me to a question: Why is EVERY city on that list European? San Fransisco has a much higher quality of life than most cities on that list. Shanghai too. Agh, East Asia deserves more than they get credit for.

Take Munich of this list immedeately!

Berlin is by far the best place to live.:goodjob:
At least in Germany
I agree on removing Munich instantly, but the best city in Germany is of course Hamburg. ;)

Wouldn't that be Nodnol? Apparently the US isn't the only country with troubles in it's schools.
reverse spelling nazis?
and isn't Nodnol in Bulgaria or something? :D

Anyway, we all know that Melbourne is the world's most liveable city ;)
Also, every ranking I've seen has Japanese, European and Australian cities making the top spots. American cities don't feature much :)

EDIT: oh yeah and canada too.

Any big city is poluted...

So why not choose a rural village?

Not that I would even consider doing so....

San Francisco.

It's rich, and liberated. By this I mean that gays get rights. We have a gay pride parade every year. That helps the quality of life. my teacher says that Civil Unions are legal in San Francisco counties. i have not confirmed this, since someone elso also told me that they weren't. I hope they are. Not that I'm gay, but as a patriotic person, I support gay rights.

Having just moved to Melbourne, I think Sydney is probably still the better spot to live, providing you are on the harbour, which is only rich dudes.

Yeah Nodnol is in Bulgaria, with those bad bicycles which only go backwards :)
