WANT.

I'd be happy with it as a city state, though I'm sure someone will mod that in before much longer. It's start bias would be a tiny island in the middle of the ocean.

But seriously, Spain. And then Mongolia.

Since when were Iroquois not Native Americans?
(Or Sioux for that matter.)

Mongolia please. :)

Mongolia, Spain, Vikings, Inca and Carthage seem pretty essential to me. Maybe Zulu in the mix. But I voted Mongolia first, I can't believe they didn't put them in vanilla!

I vote for the Majapahit Empire which existed in Indonesia mainly during the 13th and 14th Centuries. The games have never had an Indonesian civ and these guys are awesome. Who would have thought such a powerful and advanced empire existed in Indonesia? A previous Empire called Srivijaya would also be a good candidate.

Wikipedia said:
Majapahit was a vast archipelagic empire based on the island of Java from 1293 to around 1500. Majapahit reached its peak of glory during the era of Hayam Wuruk, whose reign from 1350 to 1389 marked by conquest which extended through Southeast Asia, including the present day Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, southern Thailand, the Philippines, and East Timor.

Mongolia, Spain, Vikings, Inca, Carthage, Zulu are tier one important.

Portugal, Mayans, Sioux (rather than generic Native Americans), Ethiopia, Korea, Khmer are tier two important.

I guess you could put the Netherlands in there.

Mali may not be distinct enough from Songhai but are maybe worth putting in anyway because Africa has plenty of space for them.

Celts, Sumeria, Hittites, Holy Roman Empire, Byzantines would crowd already crowded areas of the world imo and should be focused on last. Even then, Sumeria and Hittites are pretty similar to other Mesopotamian empires like Babylon and no one is around today who culturally identifies with them to get offended.

I'm all for having more diversity - less European civs and more civs from other areas of the world. Earth maps with accurate starting locations tend to have super crowded europe and vast empty spaces in asia africa and some parts of the americas.

Same as jagdtigerciv I can't believe Mongolia wasn't in the vanilla game.

Majapahit stuff:

Mongols and Spain are absolutely necessary. Vikings, Zulu, Maya and Inca would be good too. Everyone else I can live without. Especially the european micro-states...
But please, please, no Byzantines and Holy Roman Empire - it's just stupid to have both one of them and Rome or Germany on the same map...

Spain and Mongolia are the clearly "absent" stock civilizations. They should be the first DLC Civs without a doubt.

Voted Inca.
Anyway, for whatever reason I am fairly confident that the first expansion pack (which will probably be about a year from now) will only contain 4(!) new civs, and they are : Inca, Spain, Zulu and Vikings. That's right, you heard it here first!

...
Of course I could be completely wrong and they could start offering individual Civs as DLC at the rate of 1 per month starting in late January . . .

I think it's a load of nonsense that Spain isn't already in the game. They're one of the most influential civlizations in the history of the world and they get pushed aside for the Songhai and Siam? I can't use the proper words in these forums to describe this insult to the Civ series.

It beats me, but at least we get more continental diversity this way?

Voted for the Netherlands, as we need some renaissance colonial/trading powers and a whole expansion about colonialism/trade/maritime ventures to fill the void that hits once you get to 900/1200AD.
