Which civilization would you live in? If it's not an original FFH civ, please specify in a post.

Personally, I'm thinking Kuriotates or Dural. I'd be fascinated with the things I could learn in those civs. I could also see myself being an Amurite, since they have the Catacomb Libralus.

There's already a thread like this in the lore forum, but more activity is nice. :)

I picked Luichirp, but Amurites, Grigori, and Kuriotates are all possibilities depending on mood.

Yeah, but I couldn't find it. I did look for it, though. You can blame me for that.

Lanun, baby! Palm trees, beaches and wenches! I imagine it as an omnipresent medieval 'Baywatch'.

Kurios - cooperation of different beings, mega cities...

Why are there so many people who picked the Grigori who haven't even left a reply.... at all.

I my self am torn between the Grigory and the Calabim.

Personally, if I could chose all the conditions I would prefer to be a Calabim noble vampire terrorizing the folk of some small county that the rest of their empire does not even care about. You know, just far enough that no one bugs me about things like going to war or bids for power and such. But at the same time just large enough to have plenty of knaves to exercise my wildest sadistic whims on.

If I had to only chose the nation than the Grigori. After all I am a militant atheist so the theme fits.

I'd say Grigori if it wouldn't lead to the impression that the factor I'm interested in is freedom from religion. In fact, I'm very keen about God, but I still think the Grigori sound great (assuming one would have freedom to practise whatever religion one wants, rather than not being allowed; freedom to determine one's own destiny seems to be Cassiel's thing). St. Irenaeus once said that the glory of God can be seen in a human fully alive. I think God wants us to reach our full potential as a result of our own good, free choices, much as a loving parent would want their child to find the path that's right for them, follow it to the best of their ability, and share their specific gifts with the world. That all sounds fairly Grigorian to me. :-)

Of course, it does bear pointing out that my personal faith is nothing like the religions of Erebus for which Cassiel has so little tolerance (vs. the One), so maybe that's all beside the point. ;-)

Yeah, probably. But it seems to me that the Amurites are even more religiously tolerant, because the grigori are more... not forced atheism... but pretty close.

I picked Sidar. I'd have hundreds of years to do whatever I wanted to do, if not thousands of years. Either Science, Assassination, or whatever the Medieval equivalent of "video games" were. (erebusian Chess?). // or possibly magical research

Grigori, Amurites, and Mazatl (good lizard people) also seem like good choices. Whether the free-spirited nature of the grigori or the arcane of the Amurites or the awesomeness of the Mazatl.

in fact, Mazatl is my second choice.

Also, I'd randomly join Calabim if I could be a free-spirited adventuring Vampire youth, but still with considerable power.

Lanun. I could stand a couple of random raids against some arrogant bannor or whoever.

The grigori as a nation are very religiously tolerant. Perhaps the most (well, other than Kuriotates or Dural, of course). The only thing they are not tolerant of is having a "state" religion. So building large public temples, or having a mandatory religion tax/ tithing would be rather prohibited. However, individual or loosely organized group worship would be completely tolerated. And, I suppose that if a community became rich enough to build a temple with their own money, as long as they didn't feel compelled to lord some level of power over their neighbors, it would be tolerated.

Possibly, but the main factor attracting me wouldn't be religious tolerance - it's rather than an absence thereof would put me off a civ that had many appealing features otherwise (like the excellent Grigori).

That makes a lot of sense - thanks. Grigori for me, so. :) Doesn't seem that I can change my vote in the poll, though (I originally voted for Ljosalfar due to their close relationship with nature), so I'm just posting here to say that the Ljos would now be my number two and the Grigori my number one.

Oooh, tough call. So I wont vote. But almost all of the good civs I would be fine. Grigori, Amurites and Kuriotates would be my top picks though. Maybe even Ljosalfar.

I think Kael answered the Luchuirp on the original thread. All of those golems doing work for you..

Best wishes,

Breunor
