I played my first Civ I when I was 12 I think.

I'm surprised you considered even going as early as the 30's but seems there's a couple of people (i.e. my grandparents) playing civ!

The Thirties: specifically, 1933. I am one of the two poll-voters in that group, but I remember from the other "what's your age" thread that there is another player of my age and one older.
My memories from before WW2 include horse-drawn delivery vehicles, steam lorries, gas lighting, no washing machines, coal fires for household heating, hand-wound gramophones with cracked records, and no antibiotics. Those were the days ? No.

I am a child of 1978, year of the horse. However, I feel old beyond my years due all the rapid tech changes that I have seen. Up until I was 5, we didn't even have electricity in our village in China, let alone tv or computer. Then after I moved to Canada, it was like I fast forwarded about a hundred years. So maybe I can say that I feel like I was born in 1878, then found a time travelling machine, and zoomed directly to 1989 when I was 11.
