Which is better? Civilization 2 or Civilization 2 Test of Time?

Hi, I'm new to this forum, and I'm going to buy civilization 2. I need your opinion, which should I buy? Civilization 2 or the test of time version of it? They cost about the same so I don't know which is better.

I have civilization 2 Test Of Time and from what i have seen of Civilization 2, Test of Time's graphics are better they are more detailed...everything else is the same, except there is an EXTENDED ORIGINAL game, a science Fiction game , and a Fantasy Game......

So its up to you what you buy but i would get Test Of Time....
Or you could just get Civ3

Actually, I already have Civ 3, but that damn thing requires 1024x768 graphic display, which I don't have. My max is 800x600, I need to buy a new computer just to play that thing, so I thought forget it.

Anyway, so what you're saying is that test of time is a better version of the game and includes two other games? then I don't see why in the world I would want to get the original civilization 2.

Civ 2 Multiplayer Gold Edition is better... sure, it doesn't have multiple world games (ie with more than one level of play), but it's the classic version... ToT is just a not really improved version of Civ 2 without the ability to easily play the large number of scenarios for MGE and Fantastic Worlds... No, ToT is not any better than MGE and is probably worse.

The main advantage in TOT is the graphics it does put the origional civ 2 graphics to shame you can not use civ2 senerios with tot unless you use a converter taht can still be buggy my preference would have to be civ 2 TOT the game is just fresher and the mulit-world ability is a very nice touch. and it is a new challeng that you will not find in civ3 it also runs well on low end systems, if you do purchase TOT download the update patch it make a few changes for the better and corrects some minor game bugs.

That is the drawback of ToT.Almost all the best scenarios were/are made with FW or MGE.Other than that it is very good.

I would go for Test of time because it has more options if you want to do something different later on. Alternatively you could just get Civ 3.

Ok, thanks people, I just bought Civilizations 2 Test of time. Now it's time for some serious gaming. Anyways, about the patch, where can I get that? all I see on this site is patches for civ2 and civ2 gold. Where can I find the patches for ToT?
