Which Mapscript To Use?

So I have been trying to find a good mapscript for FF+. So far I have tried the Creation mapscript, as I am looking for those choke-point infested mountain valleys with keeps and fort commanders and whatnot. However the Creation mapscript gets a bit wonky with assigning land tiles by adding marsh/wetlands tiles in random areas.

@Anyone using Creation & FF+, is this supposed to happen? I know that FF+ has some weird new thing where they take into account the climate, are the marsh tiles showing up a cause of that (for the record the tiles only show up next to rivers)

Also, are there any other mapscripts you all would recommend?

I like Tectonics with the Mediterranean option. It gives a an important, but largely optional sea. The narrow strips of land makes choke-points common enough.

The only problem is that the map is huge. I use a tiny map, place eight civs and still it is too big for my taste.

I use PerfectWorld2. IMHO, it takes longer to load, but it looks really realistic.

ErebusContinent is also good, but I usually play on Large maps, so I like it looking good =]

Yeah, that's the problem with it. I like my mages and adepts clearing out the jungle from the new continent, making way for the settlers and archmages =] Apart from that, I like both.

That Romantic image of intrepid mages exploring the new world as convinced me to abandon my current Ljosalfar game and try one with PW2!

Edit:

Also, I don't seem to have the Mediterranean script..

Wow! Really? You should write the game up as a story, that would be amazing!

No, it isn't included with any Fall from Heaven mod that I know of. The download thread is here. It's an option of the script like sea level or map size.

I'd love to, but I'm a bit embarrassed about my playstyle. I don't really have any strategies and just kind of waft along without planning my tech grabs D:

It's mostly just me roleplaying things

Ahh, I only basically plan what I'm going to tech...

And, I bet your better than me...

Why not just use screenies of cities and stuff and just write a little story?

Hmm... this is giving me the urge to try and start my NES again... Perhaps I will, but as a Mega Story...
Damn you, Mages! And, Jungle, and PerfectWorld2 for your New World Option! Lmaoo...

So, how are you liking your game? What civ/leader/religion/ect?

Right now I am Hianthrogh(sp) (I have a soft spot for the Elves and Lizards), playing PW2. I -think- I am on an island off the main Old World continent, but I cannot be sure thanks to all the God damned barbarians and animals roaming around. I've met the Balseraphs and the Clan of Embers, which means I'm likely in for some hell because they are two evil civvies and I am a good civvie (not to mention the both occupy the jungles, huge competition there!)

There is no real conflict here. I am the clear leader thus far (it's a marathon game, turn 157 so still rather early) and no one wishes to bother me. I've killed off most of the barbarians who tried to invade and just set up my second city along the island-continent's major river (which I have named Iri). I have, however, been RPing my own little conflict to the south west of my capital.

See, there are these two forts, an abandoned Goblin one and a fort proper. They are right across from one another and seperated by a river. My scouts tell me that these coastal forts pretty much block off a rich coastal area filled with fish, boar, and strange white grain (rice). The Scorpion Clan goblins abandoned their small for closest to my capital when their brethern heeded the call of some distant clan (thanks For the Hoard!) who is seeking to band the greenskins into a proper destructive force. This allowed for me to claim the fort, which I RP'd as the Pettla Clan as joining my growing kingdom.

In exchange of helping the Pettla's claim the goblin fort their leader, Chieftain Icuari (the fort commander) has promised to do battle against the greenskins across the river. These barbarians did not heed Sheelba's call and are lead by Ozgma the Lizard-Eater (their fort commander, he has 1 unit of scorpion clan goblins underneath him). For 60+ turns the units traded bombardment attacks, which I have RP'd as Icuari and Ozgma fighting punitive battles. In my capital, after I built some Lizard Shapers and Fishing Boats and Temples and etc, I started to build warriors- 6 to be precise. These six warriors represented the growth of the Pettla Clan and their growing orientation towards organized warfare.

Finally, like two turns ago, I completed the 6 warriors and had Icuari fight some more skirmishes against Ozgma and his goblins. Then I attacked. Miraculously the first band of lizard warriors did not die; they defeated Ozgma when they had a 1.1% chance of victory. Soon after the rest simply rushed in and swept the remaining goblins aside and claimed the fort in the name of the Pettla Clan and the Holy See of Nochtli.

Now here is where you would think there would be some happy ending, but nope! I built a settler in Nochtli, representing the Pettla Clan's newfound desire to settle down and join civilized life proper. This settler was escorted by the 6 warriors, more so as an honor guard/triumph because I figured that nothing was going to happen.

However the six warriors were defeated and the settler killed. There are four treants spawned on this coastal area. So now the Pettla Clan has to contend with the vile tree-demons to get to their promise land! D:

Ahh, unlucky. See, you should write some stories of games, or, take part in some sort of Mega Story (If/When I start one...)

Also, is it me or do the jungle/marsh/swamps on top of mountain peaks look really pretty?

I'd love them a lot more if they kind of wrapped around instead of sit on top of the mountains (as they currently do.

Also- I hate how the cities look in this mod and really love the Orbis cities (they are so freaking pretty). Anyone have any idea what files I need to transfer to get the Orbis textures in Rife?

Urm... I'm not entirely sure...
Perhaps somebody smarter than me could comment, but if you look in:
Orbis/Assets/Art/Structures
is there anything about cities in there? If there is, try copying them into the same place in the RiFE folder. That may work, no promises though.

I use Planet Generator 0.68. I don't think it's been updated in forever, but it seems to work pretty well.

i like the map script full of resources, its got lots of customizable features

I agree, PW2 is great as well (despite the looooooong load times.) What is ErebusContinent?

ErebusContinent is a modification of the FaireWeather map for Colonization (Made by the same guy as PW2). As such, it only generates one or two continents, rather than the whole world, but does so VERY well. There are options to control the amount of desert, ice, jungle, water, and how cohesive the continents are, though to be honest I don't touch any but the last two. Less water, high cohesiveness makes for a very large continent. ;)

It's distributed with RifE now, as are PW2 and MountainCoast (And Erebus, as if I was to remove it people would complain. No idea why, but some people like it.), so anyone with the mod will have the map.
