I say Karate. Shotokan style specificaly. Tae kwon do is useless. Those high kicks do you no good!

I think a gun works best, but what I like and whats best are to different things when it comes to martial arts.

Mixed styles work best. If I had to pck one specific style it would be Thia Kick Boxing.

They all suck. Martial Arts are for Asian people, they serve no purpose for the World.

Smith and Wesson Jitsu is the most effective martial art.

Define better. Do you want it for fitness? Do you want it for being competitive in organised competition, with fixed rules against other martial artists, ala MMA? Do you want it for practical self defense? Do you want it for impressing the sexual partner of your choice?

I have a few friends who practice Jujutsu. Looks cool.

All the ones you listed completely suck.

The best are:

1. Wresting (freestyle/collegiate/greco-roman)
2. Brazilian Jiu-jitsu
3. Muay Thai
4. Vale Tudo
5. Judo/Sambo

Overall to be a complete fighter you need, at the very least, wrestling, brazilian jiu-jitsu, and muay thai.

kung fu, tae kwon do, karate, boxing, they all SUCK and I mean SUCK

They aren't fighting styles but more art.

I hold that Karate is better in my view.

And calling it that it "sucks" is worse as calling rap/hip-hop and anime/manga "crap" just because you don't like it.

@civg, skadistic:

I'm coming at this from the standpoint of assessing the martial arts based on their effectiveness as a fighting style. They may be great as exercise, as a skill or art, for mental clarity, whatever. I'm assessing it from a fighting standpoint only.

You're assessing it as a fighting style solely for a 1 v 1 fight where the objective is to definitively beat your opponent. In the real world, as opposed to an MMA ring, there can be more than one opponent, and the objective isn't always beating up on someone else.

Tae kwon do, amazing. :p
