While We Wait: Part 2

@j_eps- Oh, GM Place is a fine arena. I just went there a few days ago. I'm pretty sure there's no conspiracy by NHL teams to deny me access to an update. :p

On another note, do you ever think we should just drop the whole hockey discussion? I think it strains what is otherwise a fine friendship.

That is probably the part I take most pride in - freaking alex out.

something about portugal sets him off, and something about Mali speaking Portuguese, and Ethiopia being VERY firmly allied to Portugal.

Also, not gloating about the past in some NESes or plans for the future is very difficult. Worse than actually doing it.

EDIT: from a canadian? wow. if you are that serious, I can live with that.

Well, I accept that we are fans of different teams, but it's really getting in the way of the real reason we're here- for NESing.

Let's save Vancouver/Toronto rivalry for the NHL threads.

Oh, well i do believe that I'm an accessory to that alliance in theory as me and Portugal are allies. Interesting.

shhhhush! noone knows about that alliance yet

:ninja:

Anything that unsettles an already hyperparanoid Alex is all good in my book ;)

Didn't you guys go and make a full declaration about Africans bonding, sitting around a nice campfire, and singing Kumbayah?

{on the whole 'dark-isn't-as-good-as-Silver' issue}

I think you guys are seriously misinterperting the facts here. Why am I even being compared to Silver- because he turned France into a bloodbath? What does that bloody have to do with me? France isn't being invaded! If you had noticed, its the opposite case- battles, if any, will be fought in the Palatine against agressors (Frederick, the rightful ruler that the people actually like, is definately on my side and that makes me a defender :) )from the Papacy and Austria. Why would I need to turn France into a battlefield?

This whole analogy is messed up the moment you compared me to Silver- I'm nowhere near his style, nor his abilities as a warmonger. I've always said I'm horrible at wars and only when I'm seriously into it can I do decent war orders (decent falling far from the standard you guys held Silver to). I don't really on warmongering as my style, no matter how many times I tend to end up in wars. I prefer diplomacy hands-over, and thats where you need to look and see how France is stacked against the Order and Papists.

First off, there's so little of a chance of being invaded by England or the Netherlands that its quite non-existant. Sure, Kal could reverse the record and decide to attack me, but by doing that he commits France against the Dutch and English (and sides them with Spain.) And, after talking to Kal for some time, I don't believe he has that planned (he's having too much fun watching the Catholics kill each other.) Then you have Spain- the player is word enough. He may surprise people with decent orders and may have sold his soul to the Papacy, but doing that would be quite badly to his side- not only is he being screwed over in Calusa, but he'd be breaking a quite nice NAP France has had with Spain that has lasted three different players. I don't think he'll attack me- at least I hope he wouldn't be that stupid.

As for the whole Venice and Austria issue, I honestly don't care about Austria. When she comes marching into the Palatine, she'll find more than fifty divisions waiting to greet her warmly, mentioning that these troops are all fully supplied and supported by the locals. Then you reach the fact that in order to reach my troops, Austria will have to go through Bavaria and while I know they talked about neutrality, I hope they don't keep it. In addition you have to factor in the costs of moving troops through French-friendly lands.

Venice, however, really irked me- soley because of the eco he had banked. I could deal with an eleven-point Austria, but having a fourteen point Venice thrown in the mix was too much to hold against. So I went and sold off Milan and Savoy to Genoa, keeping them out of Venice's hands. Then you have Naples, which I promtly granted freedom to, and should Venice attack it (which everyone hopes he did), he'll be sparking war with Genoa and throughly destroying all advantages they had. Therefore, Venice is screwed out of everything she was promised and in the end all you get is war :). Enjoy.

While I sent horrible (basically NPC guidelines) for the war against the Order, I have no doubt faith in Thy's ability to screw everything up. Therefore, those said fifty divisions are expected to hit the rest of Order controlled lands before meeting the Austrians, hopefully taking him down. I honestly tried very little for Poland, only attempting to influence Muscovy and the surronding states before Kalmar dropped out.

And no, this isn't bragging or worshipping or whatever you want to call it. Its simply an insight into why you can't compare me and Silver and the usual strategy I tend to employ :).

In the end, I've accepted that the Order will have to sacrifice most of its territory so that the Catholic Alliance can establish a stable front. With 16th century logistics, France's march beyond the Rhine should already stretch her supply lines to the breaking point.

And anyway, France merely has to be distracted until her auxiliary allies can be eliminated. The Order simply provides said distraction.

Who says my troops are going anywhere near the Palatinate at this point in time? You seem to assume I'm a much worse strategist than I am, which is fair enough, given my past history. :p

Strategist and fantasmo don't exactly go together ;)

Yes, I will never stop bugging you about storing your anthrax in above-ground warehouses :p

All i have to say is that i hope Venice doesn't attack my lands. I want to stay out of this war. Genoa has gotten great by NOT going to war, even when the profits could be great. But i assure you, if you do violate my warnings, the consequences will be shocking.

After this turn i will have a navy close to twice the size of the combined Navy of the anti-French alliance. In fact, I'll have a better trained, better lead navy that is numerically equal to the combined naval might of all sides of this war.

Boo-yah!

Quiet, Mod at work. ;)

The room is dark except for the bright light of the screen and a spot light that makes the scattered stacks of paper readable. The winged cat hunches over the keyboard trying to spin straw into gold (or at least copper). Long pauses in the clacking are accompanied by frantic shuffling of paper. A search without the help of google. Soft mutters drift into the darkened, empty hall: "Damn Europeans, damn Catholics, and double damn the..." Gingerly he picks up an obviously sacred object, a palantir of the NES world, and caresses it before speaking further. "Who is most holy, most just and God's choice to win the German war?" Quickly he turns the sacred, all knowing orb, over and reads what God has writ: "Ask again later!" "Damn this Magic 8 ball!"

Do you think it'll be up before tomorrow 11ish? :(

Why are you only damning the Europeans? I WANT TO BE DAMNED TOO! Why am I always left out of everything? :p

Damn you too, Alex, and no it will not be up tomorrow night.

:joke: but it really won't be done tomorrow. :)

By 11ish tomorrow, I meant 11ish AM :p That's good I guess, I'll just have to think about using the redwoods in Sequoia National Park to fuel my hatred. ;)

My dear Moose, that is where you are wrong, at least in my world :mischief:

However, thanfully the world of alex is far off from this one

As much as I enjoy being assaulted wherever I go... Desist or I will assault you everywhere you go :p

I assume your plan is to make me die form laughing, correct ;)? Honestly, how will my 'auxillary allies' die? If Kalmar pulls out of the war, Poland will still have the Muscovians on their borders. If Austria attacks Brandneburg and Bavaria, then I'd die laughing. After all, B&B were working for the Austrian cause by not aiding me. Next turn, when I don't have the pesky Order bothering me so much and I have my own little ally in the area, France will press on and then there will be no giant bank accounts to save you all :).

Thy, I wish to speak to you. Any time you notice me on, pm me and I'll make it worth your while to sue for peace.
