While We Wait: Part 4

sp103, Did you raise your average post count? You are suppose to be dropping it :p

To start a different topic

For all you seniors where are heading to for college and what are planning to major in? If you are not going college what are you doing after High School?

For me I plan to head to either Colorado University in Boulder or Denver University. DU is a private school and costs like $40,000 a year so I will probably not go there since I cannot afford it :(. I plan to major in Political Science and possibly some history topic. I would have gone out of state but once again it is expensive but I like Coloraod and really do not want to leave the state especially when we have some good schools here.

I'm going to the University of Michigan next year and will probably major in German or Business, and considering a minor in another language, maybe Russian.

Even though I am only in seventh grade, my parents are obsessed with everything I do. Everything is already planned out for me. It's not fair. It's like I am a robot programmed to run the path they make for me. They live my life, and don't let me have peace. Always snooping around in my business, etc.

You guys are making me feel like an overachiever.

I got into U Chicago early action, and just got accepted to Williams. Still waiting on a decision from Princeton.

EDIT: Plan to be a physics or math major.

Hey, U of M owns U of Chicago, and I'm waiting for my response from Harvard, which will almost certainly be a "no".

That explains a lot.

What do YOU want to do, sp1023?

Well, I am not exactly sure. My parents are both doctors, so they want me to be doctors. My father also wants me to work on either Wall Street or become a lawyer. I don't find any of then preferable. Too stressful. And what about you, Head Serf?

BTW: Have you gotten your orders in for the Cradle of Life? I am so looking forward to beating up the Gupta!

Williams is niiiice. But if you lik urban, you should go to your Early D choice.

I'm a junior, but I would love to go to GW and do their Poli Sci/Public Policy BA/MA program with a minor in History or English or something...

What about me? My parents aren't very concerned, well, my dad wants me to major in business, but I'll see about that...

Yes. My "orders". My "orders" are "in".

Anyone heard of Cornell? And wants to go there?
I have, of course, heard of Cornell. It's a very good school, but I personally prefer small schools, which Cornell most definitely is not.

Why small schools? They aren't better. If you want small but good, try Dartmouth.

I'm the sort of person that wants to be a politician, but really doesn't want to 'waste'( in my opinion) 10 years of my life in a job I would hate as a lawyer anyways. But I'm thinking if thats what I have to do...

My tops are Stanford, Duke, University of Virginia. Harvard would be nice but.. (lol)

Well, Princeton isn't bad for law, although it also focuses on health sciences a whole lot.

You are an overachiever :p Good luck on Princeton. I will be interviewing for their Political Philosophy Ph.D program next year.

You are only in seventh grade. My advice is to work hard to get decent grades in high school (it doesn't really matter, but you have to be able to pull a work ethic out of your rear once you get to college, so you might as well start early). Most importantly, study and score well on tests like the PSAT. If you can grab that National Merit, there are schools that will give you a full ride. Once you've got that full ride, escaping from foolish parental guidance isn't that hard. For now, though, they want whats best for you, so do what they tell you. ;)

I think more or less every parent wants their kid to major in Business or Political Science or Pre-Med, with the aims of Law School or Med School. Most parents believe in hard work an' stuff, and want their babies making lots of money. Truth is, most people change majors within the first semester and its not uncommon to see major changes well into the second year. Thats the beauty of general education; sample some of this and some of that and decide what you want to do. You are the one that has to live with yourself for the rest of your life. Find something you like to do. Of course, if you like playing video games, you might wanna think of something else. And you will have to justify it to Those Who Hold the Power of the Purse.

Anyone heard of Cornell? And wants to go there?

Yes... I'm sure many of us have heard of Cornell. Are you curious about it? I would suggest wikipedia if you must. Either that or playing Guitar Hero. You're too young to worry about college :p

This has been unsolicited College Advice Hour with Littleboots.

Whats the national merit? Nvm, ill google search it.

And your college hour should be helpful for senors, not me.

But thanks anyway. There are some NESers that are always ready and willing to help, and then there are some that react to the smallest question fiendishly!

Guys, I think I have the depression. Fill me up with ways to save my life NOT BY GETTING DRUNK ON COMPUTER NESSES (and i do drink them in some way! you'll see! :mwaha:) I think I am craking. any tips??/??

Getting in the 99th percentile of your junior year for the PSAT.

I got 96%. So close, but so far. :(

I'm planning to go to UBC, where I hope to major in something Biology-related. Maybe I'll become a doctor, but I'd also enjoy being an entomologist or maybe even a teacher (if I go insane ;))

I've considered getting involved in politics, though I'm not yet old enough to vote.

Yes. Go to an asylum, and leave us alone. Just kidding:joke:

But seriously, if you really feel bad, see a psychiatrist or something.

Dr. Iggy! Sounds cool to me I say go for it :p.

I do not want to be a politician but I would like to work on a campaign.
