While We Wait: Part 4

I used to know Actionscript, but I've forgotten a lot of it now, regrettably. Next time I learn a programming language, however, it'll be something a bit more useful.

Oh great. Now we have to worry about you dieing of old age before BirdNES is in the modern age. :p
I wil do my best to keep you worry free in that regard. :)

I have a question for you guys. Do you think a 2010 SAT will cut it for USC?
I've been getting so many letters from Ivy League colleges and I have no idea which one to choose. ><

According to College Board, their middle 50% SAT is 630 - 720 reading, 650 - 740 math, and 640 - 720 writing, so your SAT seems to fit somewhere in the middle of their range but isn't outstanding.

Learn C (or ++), the syntax is similar to Actionscript, its powerful and been around for ages and will likely be around for a long time, and is low level as any non-professional is ever going to need to go IMO.

Or go crazy and learn to code in the prettiest language of all!

Very easily. Did you really need to ask, or are you just pimping your score for all our benefit? :p
Yeah, he probably is pimpin. 220s get in easily enough; 230s are pretty grats. Actually, since nobody should ever get PSAT math questions wrong, 220s are pretty easily reachable...:p

You're insane. Just learn Python. It's like programming for lazy people.

What, Python? I've used it fairly frequently, though I can't say that I'm particularly proficient. Actually, I'm writing a low-quality German-English translator right now using Python; the dictionaries are pretty handy. Also: NO SEMICOLONS!!!! WOOHOOO!

Think a 235 will cut it?

I think I kind of lucked out with UVA being in-state for me, though part of me wishes to go out-of-state just to be somewhere else.
I got a 231 (in Massachusetts, which generally has one of the highest cutoffs) and am now a Finalist. You'll be fine.

From the couple videos I watched it seems considerably more efficient than C (++ and #). I have read through books on C, ++ and # and couldn't tell you much beyond "Hello World". Which I only remember for #. :p

NOBODY USES C-SHARP!!!! IT IS AN ABOMINATION!!!!!

Actually it is pretty fun to use. The only thing keeping me from putting tons of effort into programming is the fact that all the languages are so outdated. In this modern day and age programming should be as simple as point and click.

Try this. Point and click for you right there.

Even though I am only in seventh grade, my parents are obsessed with everything I do. Everything is already planned out for me. It's not fair. It's like I am a robot programmed to run the path they make for me. They live my life, and don't let me have peace. Always snooping around in my business, etc.

Welcome to the world of teenaging ;)

Btw you will continue to feel that way until adulthood. You'll just be able to leave your home at the age of 18, so from there on, they won't bug you as much. :p

I'm of the strong opinion that people you'd learn the basics the character building hard way - learn manual transmission before you're allowed to get into sloppy habits in an automatic. I  python, but unfortuately due to my work I have to hack about with perl all day.

Also I don't actually know how to program in Piet, that'd be silly ;).

Guys, I think I have the depression. Fill me up with ways to save my life NOT BY GETTING DRUNK ON COMPUTER NESSES (and i do drink them in some way! you'll see! :mwaha:) I think I am craking. any tips??/??

How old are you?
