Hello

I just started getting white lines on things, like white lines on graphics. It's on all saves. Here is an example. I have a 3yr old Dell laptop and have been playing for like 6 months and it just started today, 11/1/12. I reinstalled the graphics driver, no help.

Here is a link to a screenshot. Please let me know if you know what I can do.

Thanks
Robbie

mine does this same thing. but it's not just white lines, it's whatever resource is on the tile. for example the seagulls above fish leave white lines (like in the original post here), deer leave brown lines, sheep leave white, elephants leave grey, etc.

edit: but it's only resourced that have animations- things like stone, marble, iron, dont do this.

Yes exactly, I was just coming on to say that. It's resources like Deer, Fish, Cows, Sheep, Truffles are doing it but not other resources like Gems, Stone or Sugar. The lines start in the top left and go to the resource.

Are you all playing with Dx9 or Dx10/11?

heres my DxDiag

mmhh...please update your graphics card drivers.
Mr. Shirk said it elsewhere that they've worked together with Intel for some optimizations, and these should be in the latest drivers.

edit: Same applies for ronjba :).

thanks for the help. i tried to update the driver and got this

Product Detected Intel® HD Graphics
Current Driver Installed 8.15.10.2189
A customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer. The Intel Driver Update Utility is not able to update the driver. Installing a generic Intel driver instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver may cause technical issues. Contact your computer manufacturer for the latest driver for your computer.

so i'm trying to find it on toshibas website

I am playing under 11 also. I've already reinstalled the latest drivers too (I run a small computer support company so am familiar with computers).

Turdmuffin, do you have a Dell? You'll get that from Intel if you do, have to go to support.dell.com and put in your model number to get the latest video driver (my latest video driver is like 2 years old, always the same).

im downloading the toshiba one now, when it installs ill update with whether or not it worked. thanks guys

Good luck :).

(my latest video driver is like 2 years old, always the same).

Did you then also try to install one directly from Intel?
They are newer (October 2012), and I guess you'd be able to install a driver which is not supplied by the manufacturer.

I tried to install that Intel video driver (against my personal judgment) and got an error message on the install that told me to see my manufacturer (same message from the Intel web site). So I guess we're stuck on the re-installing of the video drivers.

Since it's an issue with Samsung also, I have to think it's something with a recent update maybe? I am on Steam's beta update (it's the only thing that lets a friend and I play multiplayer online without errors) and maybe there was a recent update that did it. It also now says, in between turns, what civ's turn is processing, city states, then barbarians. It never used to do that until today. If I can roll back the update it might fix it. How do I do that (if that's a good idea)?

Today the "fall patch" was rolled out, that's what causes the problems.
Sadly rolling back is not possible, due to Steam (which just doesn't allow it).

It's still possible to install the generic Intel drivers, but I'd only suggest that to people who know what they are doing (and who have a backup machine). Instructions can be found on Intel's site, see here.

When I play old and new games in DirectX 10 & 11 I get long silver or copper colored streaks across the screen. I tried a new game in Direct X 9 and didn't get any streaks. I'm running Intel HD Grahics with driver 8.15.10.2202 which I think is up-to-date. Suggestions to remove the streaks?

Not totally, there's a newer driver, see here.
Would be great if you could test if that one removes the problem :), so that the other people don't maybe have to do it for nothing.

I tried that driver, no no avail.

It's the steam update then I assume. I'm going to try uninstalling Steam and then re-downloading and installing without running the fall patch, see if that works.
