Patches are applied automatically, there's no way not to install the fall patch.
So don't stress your bandwidth, it will probably not change anything.
(if you don't have any limits on your internet connection, then you can sure try it, it will certainly not hurt)

After uninstalling Steam, and then reinstalling, Steam is making me re-download Civ again and "install" it (even though it's installed). I'll see in the next 30min (huge download) if issue is resolved.

Yes, it works!!! I used the link you provided to run the Intel Driver Update Utility. I followed the instructions and installed driver 15.22.57.64.2827 (8.15.10.2827) dated August 10, 2012.

The streaks are gone now. Thanks very much for your help!

My graphics are now bugged.

To be exact: the cow and deer tiles are now 'smeared' towards one direction til the end of my screen. The cow or deer tile turn into stripes wich just don't end.

this sucks. do I now have to reinstall?

On the 2K forum somebody else has the same. He says:

"My video went also bad immediately after the update. All animals are long lines across the screen - the troops all display okay. It appears to just be problem with display of the landscape animals. Windows 7 - Direct x 10.

I updated all drivers - and problem still persists."

It's not a problem, it's intentional behaviour :/.

So I guess you'll have to make an attempt with installing the generic Intel drivers.

It's the steam update then I assume. I'm going to try uninstalling Steam and then re-downloading and installing without running the fall patch, see if that works.

I can't update the Intel file. All downloads from Intel say "See mftr for driver" error after starting the install.

Hey everyone. I'm also seeing white lines for animal resources. I was told to come here and post my dxdiag and someone could help me. I am really tech ignorant, so please - be gentle with your probing. I already feel violated by this patch.

Your computer is under the minimum specs, which is quite bad. There are 2 guys in this thread with the same problem and also computers which are too weak. I'm not sure if any solution can be found in that case.

Sadly, I am getting the same graphics problems shown by ronjba in post 3 of the thread.
Please help. This graphics problem makes the game unplayable for me right now.
My dxdiag.txt file is attached. I choose DX9 when prompted prior to game loading.

Update your graphics drivers please. They are 2 years old, which is in the computer area a real eternity. This should be the correct driver for you.

You've been lucky. The game was not really meant to work on your computer.
And it seems they made some changes, which broke your luck :/.

You might want to try if the latest drivers for your graphics card (this one) makes a difference, but there's no guarantee.
