Who here plays civ games on there laptops

Me! I love laptops, I game at school :D (or I did until they felt like changing the rules without notice and it got confiscated till the end of the day and they said not to bring it)

We do, we doo.

Yep, mine is my primary computer...

I play Civ4 and hopefully Civ5 on my Toshiba A300 laptop.

Basic Late 09 MacBook (with 4GB RAM)

Dale that patch fix for 1.01 it wont work for me, can you talk me through it

PatchMod wasn't made for 1.01 since the Firaxis patch (1.01) IS PatchMod. ;)

I hope to. My current laptop is about 2 years old and been decent for Civ IV, I have a lot of programs that can be removed to free up space, so it might be able to pull off Civ V. If it doesn't, I've already been considering a new computer for a little while, and Civ V would push me over the edge.

That should be "their" instead of "there". Pet peeve of mine. Sorry.

I play Civ on my HP HDX 18T quad core 2.53 ghz with 4 gig ram. The video card has 1 gig on it as well.

It runs quite well. Hopefully it will run CiV well. :)

Running Civ4 on my Toshiba Satellite. Ten second max between turns in the Modern Era. (Add more if I'm getting attacked and I forgot to turn off defense animations)

I play- civilization 1 on my nokia symbian phone (with the vsun emulator + civilization1 snes rom)works really well !
-civilizaton 3 on my laptop ... love it!
- civilization 3&4 on my pc ! :)

Don't be sorry. It's not like it was in the title or anything...

Assuming there is a mac version at some point, I'll try to run it on whichever mac laptop I have at that time.

I play pretty much exclusively on my laptop, a Dell Inspiron 1520. It has a 2.2 GHz Intel dual-core processor (T7500) and GeForce 8600M GT graphics. Although both could be faster, they do a pretty good job taking care of Civ3 and especially Civ4 (which doesn't scale up as well for huge maps, and thus uses less CPU power at the maximum). If they don't suffice for Civ5, I'll wait to get Civ5 instead of spending for a new computer. But I'd be surprised if it won't play Civ5 well.

On new laptops, a Mobility Radeon 5450 would probably be close to equivalent for the GPU (and a 9500 GS is exactly equivalent from nVIDIA, I have no idea about their newer cards, though), and either a similarly or slightly lower-clocked Core i3, a similarly clocked Core 2, or a slightly higher-clocked Turion for the CPU.

The only thing I miss from playing it on a desktop is the NumPad, which is really nice for quick moves on the isometric or square grids of Civ3 and Civ4. But that won't matter with Civ5, unless someone comes out with a hexagonal num-pad-ish accessory for Civ5.

dale need help wit this patch m8, i says i need a previous version of the game installed

Please take the query to the Civ4 Colonization forum. Let's not fill up this forum with off topic. :)
