Who is this new leader?

Good point. Civ is very deliberate on how they leak information

Anyone done this deserve a raise.

Btw. You guy can't just cut landlocked "civ" out just because they shown the water. River, canal and lake that both natural and man-made also contains water. You know.

At this point, it's anyone with a feather on their head/headgear!

They said "Dynasty" in the hint. He was a member of Basarab dynasty. In the leader screen he is standing in his Bran Castle aka "Dracula's Castle".

Are people really guessing Vlad Tepes? I can't believe they'd add Wallachia.

I think he would be the leader of Romania.

Dynasty can refer to any culture... it refers to a family that remains in power over generations - which we've seen in pretty much every part of Europe. Sounds like the leader is a member of a dynasty with the mentioned attributes.

If it was Vlad Tepes, I don't think his civ would be "Wallachia."

More likely, they'd have made some sort of Slavic amalgamation civ, like the Celts, Polynesians, or even the Danish/Swedes (who are combined with Norway and Finland, respectively).

Might be ruling Hungary, Romanians, etc.

:dunno:

And a leader doesn't have to be great or even a leader to get into the game. Gandhi never ruled anything, for instance. He's just an interesting character.

One thing that can be said about Vlad. He'd certainly be interesting.

They posted this on Facebook:

A dynasty characterized by tragedy and madness…

I'd say the use of the word 'dynasty' - and not, say, 'kingdom' or 'nation' - is very significant. It may point to an Eastern civ rather than an European one.

Hmm... Maybe its the Timurids. Number of deaths & destruction in conquests of Timur were quite high which could reflect 'madness & tragedy'. Just wishful thinking. Would love to play as my ancestor. :p

Doesn't make sense to me, and it'd be such an odd representation of him just given the setting. Vlad isn't characterized in terms of a dynasty, and he's associated more with brutality than tragedy. I'm guessing Portugal, or Morocco?

And a very specific looking scepter, which narrows it down quite a lot. I haven't seen anything particularly convincing yet, though.

Some say it looks like the Portuguese royal scepter:

Great, I've convinced myself.

Putting my money on some Italian, because Italian dynasties are famous for tragic stories and sometimes madness.
Or it's the Timurids, they probably had a tragic end as well.

Shah Jahan, 5th Mughal emperor, affected by the traggic death of his wife Empress Mumtaz Mahal, later went mad and was imprisioned in the Fort of Agra by his own son.

But the mughal forts are already a UB for India...
