Who knew that Barbarians could perform amphibious invasions?

I don't think you get GG points from barbs.

Nor experience above 10, correct. I noticed this in the recent OCC game I wrote up; I found a barb city full of Riflemen which the AI had (sensibly) not attacked, and figured I'd squash it and score some XP and GG points. Not so.

If your talking unmodded Bts, then yes. However, in RI i'm getting a lot, and GG's spawn fairly frequently.

Its actually quite annoying in some games that you don't get GG points from barbs. Especially on huge marathon with raging barbs and minimal number on AI's, barbs are you worst enemy :)

I had a vanilla game of Earth 9 Civs when north America was neglected by the old world until 2010.
Before than, every civilization tried to send a ship or two but it wasn't enough.
When me (India) and Egypt finally organized an invasion, we found a massive coastal protection with ironclads, riflemen and some annoying machine-guns.
It took us about 40 years (which means 40 turns in Normal GS) to take the coastal cities.

So you have to watch barbs even in Vanilla.
Geez  Good that I haven't encountered anything like that in my Vanilla days!

@Drakarska: you're right. even though I only play unaltered BtS (thus no GGs) I still like having barbs on because of the extra experience. It's nice to get a HE unit just with the gracious help of barbs.

Woah. Never had that happen! I always try to find and take over the New World as soon as I get Astronomy, and many other civs follow soon after, so barbs aren't a problem.

If you and the AI ignore the Old World it will "develop"...

Wow. Ive never seen barb rifle before! And I always play with raging barbs.

I've had to deal with barbs landing from ships. Plus if a barb ship with embarked units is losing a fight then the units will land.

Depends on the mod. Wait until you see a barb tank rolling up and unpolitely knocking on your door

I've seen barb paratroopers in unmodded BTS. Admittedly, it was on an Archipelago map on a small island that I had forgotten about and the AI's never invaded either, very late in a long game. They also had developed the island very nicely with towns, farms and mines. It was only big enough for the one barb city.
