Edit: This has turned in to the World 2009 mod!

Or do you think this is just un-doable? Will a mod with this many civs on a giant map be just slow and unplayable? Does it have to be scaled back to a huge map with less civs?

Remember I'm also looking for advice from you folks who have done this before.

From what I can tell, all you need to know is xml and python. Python isn't completely nescesary or XML to a lesser extent. Use Rhyse Earth Map or GEM and make a WBS scenerio out of it. I might be able to help a little bit.

If you want a distinct difference between active wars, border conflicts, stand offs, and regular peace time, it would probably require some high level coding. I have no idea how you would simulate such differences though (or what all of those terms fully imply, for that matter).

Also, Looking at the list of things you need help with, I suggest you create a mod folder, copy a bunch of XML files, and start playing around with stuff. Also, read some of the tutorials on Civfanatics. A lot of the stuff you've put there is very straightforward, and good to get experience in (especially if you want to lead a team for a major mod).

GEM was the one I was planning on using, I'll take a look at Rhyse's as well. I think I'm going to need more than just a WBS scenario though, because I want to edit techs, civs, units, leaders, etc. Unless all this can be done with only a scenario... I don't know. This is why I need help. :D

Oh no, not expecting to have distinct differences between the way different types of conflicts play out, nothing that complicated. I just want them represented in the game, with accurate military forces, and accurate relations between the nations.

I have created the folder and begun playing around with it, and I've started looking at the tutorials some. Thank you, that is all good advice. However I am going to need someone else more experienced to do some of this work, so I just figured if someone would want to make a hundred bucks or something for a couple hours of their time, we could work together.

If you can find a sight with a world map and cities, and another site with army sizes, I could probably quick make a WBS scenerio in a day or two. What countries do you want?

Thanks. Once I know what countries he wants, I can probably get a WBS scenario done in a week.

Ajidica, I sent you a PM. Let me know if you didn't get it and I'll re post it here. I have to run out but we can talk later.

another one is the World Factbook, published by the CIA. Its mostly what the last site referenced from, its the real data.

just google; CIA world factbook.

@DVS420: I'll start looking at GEM, Seeing your civ list, I think it would work better. The spreadsheet will make it alot easier. I am assuming you want this for BTS?

Yeah I think BTS would be best. May as well. The colony feature is too much to pass up. I definitely agree that it needs GEM or something like it. That is such a realistic map, and that many civs needs a giant.

I'll start the spreadsheet now and get it to you tomorrow morning.

@Ajidica: Here is a file with about half the maps that will be needed, and a spreadsheet with info about each civ including military sizes and GDPS. I'll have more stuff ready tomorrow including flags and photos for leaderheads.

Here are the rest of the maps you'd need. That should cover the whole earth. Let me know if I missed something or if you need certain ones more detailed.

That would be great NikNaks93, those are three things that this mod really needs. I will PM you in a bit if if that's cool.

I looked at GEM, it would be nice, but I think it is too big. I have a decent comp, (can run Total War games well), and with GEM, it was running slow. I am now thinking about using Rhyse map. I'll look at the civ list, then decide.

EDIT:My comp can run GEM, but it is a bit slow. I had another program running during it.

Rhye's earth map is great. I can't find it for BTS, though.
