Why 1.61?????

Well, it is pretty much a statistical fact that people pay more attention to, and are more vocal about, anything that's negative in nature.

It's why the news media is always going on and on about gloom-and-doom stuff. It's not that there isn't plenty of good news out there; it's just that bad news sells better.

I didn't think it was peticularly hare to compatible with v1.61, but one funny thing I noticed, the Dam wonder is now called GREAT_DAM, its nif is in the ThreeGorgesDam folder and the nif file is called HooverDam.nif

OK. Changing FORBIDDEN_PALACE to GREAT_PALACE and THREEGORGESDAM to GREAT_DAM is reasonable. Changing MAO to CHINESE_LEADER seems to me to be pointless, and changing COMMUNISM to UTOPIA makes me angry. I'd rather they called it something more generic, such as "RED".

Well the theory of communism is rather utopian in that it assumes a perfect world. I don't see any point in changing the technology to Utopia though, especially if they didn't change the label so the game behaves no differently.

But they'll change the label in the chinese translation. Then there will be no communist text strings in the game to trip them up with the censors board.

Well, they should still have called it "Equilarianism" or something like that. Calling it "Utopian" is what I find offensive, as I HATE Communism.

Although, if it pleases the Chinese, then I can see why they'd do that, with China having the highest population in the world, IIRC...

Ah, I see. That makes sense.

Communism doesn't work, but the reason it doesn't work is because it is based on a utopian vision. The world being not utopian, this leads to communist regimes being extremely dystopian. Think of "utopia" as being synonymous with "unrealistic". Although I agree that "Egalitarianism" would be a better name.

The Smurfs were communists. From each according to his ability, to each according to his need. I love the idea of communism, it just doesn't work and turns into socialism. Well, except for the Smurfs, we truely must marvel at the political perfection that is Papa Smurf.
