Why are the time-data stamps on save files wrong?

I'm running Civ V on a Mac. For some reason the save files have the wrong time and data stamp. It's as if I'm playing in a different time zone, but the system time on my Mac is correct. Is this a Civ problem or is it something to do with Steam? And how do I fix it?

Vaguely familiar but I quit Steam 6 years ago so I can't say for sure if that's the source of the problem. I run OS 10.14
