It would take spamming to a whole new level, since spammers would know that even if the thread gets closed, they can continue the spam through edits if they wanted to.
I am not embarrassed about what I wrote, but my post should not stay unchallenged. The post does no good without a following discussion. When the thread was closed I would prefer if this post that the mods found inappropriate for this site was removed too. But of course it is too late now anyway.

well i dont feel sorry for you, you started a thread about hiring a prostitute or not, even if you embelished the story a little, what did you really expect?
I expected people to explain why I am wrong. I would really like to know that. And of course it is always interesting to discuss controversial aspect in our society. But obviously this was not the right place for that discussion, so I will take it somewhere else instead.
Anyway, that particular thread is now gone and forgotten. Let it rest in peace! I guess I must learn not to use specific examples as when I really am more interested in a general discussion.
This thread is about the general freedom to edit your own posts. I think that is a good freedom that should not be withdrawn just because a thread is closed. Apparently most of you guys don’t agree with me, and I guess we will never get our liberties back

Besides, if editing were allowed, it'd leave open the possibility for far too many tricks post-mortem.

But you don’t get postcounts for editing. And after a day or two nobody will even read a closed thread anymore. I think spammers would prefer to start a new spam thread instead of editing a dead one, or even better, find an open thread to spam up and eventually get that one closed too

Who said spammers do it for the post count? Have you ever asked one? I can see many reasons to spam other than to raise PC, but i feel that spam is not worth a ban, so i dont do it.
