Damn it, the boss won't let me play at work. I just don't understand it, its good for my morale and more productive then reading the forums here for 8 straight hours.

Whatever,

Yes, why not indeed. Why can't we all play Civ III at work? Prolly not even the Firaxis people are allowed to play Civ III at work though

When I was at work I used to play Civ2. It was nice. I am retired now and playinfg civ3

My plan next week is this:

We all use laptops at work with NT - doesn't support games. So, my long awaited new computer purchase will be ANOTHER LAPTOP!

The beauty of this decision, of course, is that I CAN PLAY CIV AT WORK!!

You can try it to. Believe me, it will be worth every penny! I know all this because one of my co-workers has already done it and he's a much happier person.

You need to be promoted to vice-president and get your own office.

I get to play civ3 at work. I keep the volume turned down.

I used to have NT 4 on my home machine and I played games on it all the time. Not Civ III, it wasn't out at the time. But I played a ton of MOO 2, Tropico, etc, etc.

Hey, maybe economy and history's teachers should play civ3 with students at school. Lot to learn.

If your boss caught you playing civ3, told him: Would you prefer me to visit hotporn' website?

If my boss caught me playing civ3 at work, or any other game come to think about it, I'd tell them that it was quite ok, as it is the official version, and not some hacked version downloaded from the net.

I think that would be make them happy.

Another excuse would be... "But it helps me think."

Just had a thought... What would our "To do" List at work be?
1) Read and send emails
2) Read and send forum messages
3) Eliminate Russians on northern border
4) Meeting @ 11am
5) Think of excuse why I didn't attend meeting
6) Colonise large island to the west of capital
7) Lunch
8) Think of excuse as to why lunch was nearly 2 hours long
9) Form alliance with Germans to fight off the Chinese to the south
10) Repeat items 1, 2
11) Go home

May I send my CV? It seem to be my kind of job.

Hehehe. As a student in AP European History, I learn more by playing Civ 3 than I do during class. All I can imagine is having a LAN party in the library with my teacher when the multiplayer version comes out! Oh no!, the football players have teamed up against my culturally superior civ! Play with 21 other students for a couple weeks!

:rocket: :rocket: :rocket:

That would be one seriously contested position...civ III player needed for a medium sized company in the finance department.

My CV...3rd year geology student with ****ed up grades due to lack of submission of work. Enjoys a game of civ3 from time to time :p

I would love to play at work, but the folks at Firaxis have yet to port it to UNIX. ;)

All I'm gonna say on this matter is one thing.

Civ3 works on Windows 2000 Professional, just disable your network connection before you play. You never know who's watching. ;)

I'm in software QA, so playing Civ3 with the latest patch feels a
lot like work to me.

Fortunately, I love my job...and Civ3 ;)

Well, I am the boss & owner, so I can play what i want at work, but the current equipment is old and feeble, so just paly civ2 one city challenge on it.

I used to use CIV2 as a learning tool for students that I tutored. You had to be careful to point out where it strayed from history, but it was useful for them to get a sense of human history.

Sorry but I think Having kids play civ 3 would be a pretty lousy way to teach history. In reality civ 3 bears almost no resemblance to how things really are.

The truth is CIV 3 is a game nothing more not a way to teach anyone anything.

It's like having military students play starcraft or something to learn military tactics. The kids would probally like it though

The idea is you get the little freaks interested in history...

Other than simply getting them interested, they also learn about the existence of extinct peoples and get a general idea of what came first, as far as technology was concerned. Granted, this would not be wholly accurate, but it is more than they will retain from their world civ classes.
