Why can't you sell/buy weapons in civ?

That has -and still is- very frustrating in civ4. Selling weapons is one of the most prominant trades in the world, if not the most. So how could civ4 ignore it? Sure, maybe you can't sell your archers or your infantry, but there must be a way to sell your archs, rifles, and tanks!

Most developing countries depend on developed nations (basically usa, uk, Russia, and China) to supply them with modern weapons.. when can we see this simulated??

lol! I thought "Imperialism" before I just read the very next post mentions it! He's saying very nice things, but how to implement them?

I think everyone's been suffering from "1 wine = enough for 1 civ" thingy, and would like to see it proportional to the # of people or iron enough to produce certain # of units..etc. But again this seems to be only available in civ5, if it will ever be!
 
I doubt Civ5 will ever implement a realistic trade system - the level of abstraction has barely changed since the original. With the SDK we can make a Civ with a detailed and interesting economy, there's no point in waiting for an expansion or a sequel - it won't deliver wholesale changes.
 
No but they probably improved everything "improvable" with other aspects. Besides, adding weapons as a tradable resource isn't that complicated! Just put an equation for their values counting on the # of shields, how badly the weapon is needed, how good is your relation with the selling civ.. etc and we got it!
 
Yes, this is one of Age of Civilizations goals. Weapon systems will be tradeable in the modern eras, if I can figure out the programming.
 
Yes I love the mercenaries mod... waiting to fuse it with several other mods before I play it (does anybody here don't love the immigration mod???)
