Why do resources spawn so frequently in mountain pockets?

Title...

I am sure this is a case of confirmation bias but, anytime in the early game I spot a potential splendid adjacency pocket of mountains for campuses or holy sites in the mountains I get a sense of impending dread. I have gone so far as to delay researching Animal Husbandry (this one especially) and bronze working on occasion too. All this is an effort to ensure I can get my campuses and holy sites placed, before I spawn in another damned resource in my precious mountain pockets.

Am I crazy or does it seem all too frequent? - Also are there little things like this that drive other players insane? I mean it cant just be me right? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills sometimes with this game. What little innocuous things like this drive you guys nuts?

how does delaying the discovery prevents ressources from spawning ? They are placed at the start of the game, and if a district is placed on them before discovery , you get a 'free mine' (at least for the collection of the ressource per turn part). What am i missing here ?

If you have iron revealed you can't place a campus on it. If it's not revealed you can put it there.

I'm with you OP. I wish you could either harvest it or outright place it there and just destroy the resource.

Hills tend to cluster around mountains, resources that spawn in hills are thus more likely to appear adjacent in places you'd really like to drop down a campus just by correlation?

Does that sound plausible to people who know more about the mapgen procedure than I?

Revealing resources feels a bit like a roulette sometimes. I was less than thrilled the other day when aluminium popped up in between three wonders two turns before the theatre square was up in the build list for that city.

Time to reload one turn earlier and make sure to put that TS down — then you can finish actually building it later. :pat:

Yeah, that kind of metagaming the game has drives me nuts, with rules and counter-rules that make no logical sense.

I don't cheat at solitaire. :nono:

Yes, and some resources are coded to not be adjacent to another, so a plot surrounded by mountains that, by current rules, can't have resources, has a slightly higher probability to be selected for resource placement that one not adjacent to any mountain.
