Why Highway's

Why are there highways in the game? The came too late for the game. I always have railways invented and built in my empire.

In my last game I used the first time jumplane. I hoped that this are roads over water. But they aren't, but gave a good bonus for , ,

Well, because... All route types have different resource requirements and different costs to build them - Highway is there for that unfortunate case where you are unable to build railroads.

Jumplanes do not allow land units to cross water as that would cause all kinds of problems and unbalance. However Jumplanes do speed up ship movement.

Sometime ago, I read a post suggesting different bonus to the combinations train / mines, workshops and industries, opposed to highway / cottages, hamlets, etc...
