Why I probably won't buy Civ V.

Of course there weren't 1-1 death fights,
there most definitely were one on one fights to the death, even literally. but even still, as long as units aren't completely wiped out on the first attack unless it's something like a tank vs a spearman, i'm not too worried.

One of my all-time favorites, combat-wise (mechanics) was Warlords III:
  • Stacks limited to 8 units

  • Warlords is also one of my favorite series. Stack vs stack was really stack vs stack. in Civ combat was way too slow because you had hundreds of units in the modern era. in this sense, it's even more tactical micromanagement than 1UPT.

The only thing that will stop me fropm buying Civ 5 is not being able to run it on my current PC. I do not intend to upgrade my PC for the sake of a game, when I buy a new PC, I will buy Civ V. I only started playing Civ 3 just before Civ 4 came out for exactly this reason. It wasn't a problem because Civ 2 was an excellent game, and it had a throne room, which I miss.
