Why is there this strange complaints and negativity?

I suppose to directly address the Op, there really aren't strange complaints or any more negativity than usual. The problem is that any and all dissent was herded into one thread for Civilization 5. For over 5 years, people were accustomed to a sheltered paradise where only positive thought and praise for the game was strictly enforced. Any criticisms and dissent were ruthlessly shouted out and stamped down.

I do hope for the health of the community that we won't see a repeat for Civ VI.

Games are absolutely art! What else would they be?

Art isnt created on a budget provided by venture capitalists who strip out as much creativity as they can in order to decrease time to market and return on investment.

Any vestige of art which remains in a game is a precious, precious accident.

Discussing moderator actions in public... What a brave, brave man (seriously, the mods on this site could lighten up a little. what's with moving perfectly good discussion threads to a forum that no one ever frequents (the Civ VI 'suggestions' forum)?). :p

@Palantir30: I've often wondered why some billionaire or other won't choose to finance their own game, making it exactly to their specifications, sales be damned. I guess it might be because you won't become a billionaire with such projects... But there should be plenty of more artistically minded people who've inherited their fortune (and have yet to squander it).

It was a disastrous launch and the game designer admitted that the game was deeply flawed and simply not ready.

This an editorialized version of events. I was one of the people not totally satisfied with Civ V on release. I thought it was initially too watered down and "basic." But those issues were largely addressed, in particular in expansion packs, and what was left was moddable. What we have now is a game that is enjoyed by many players. Or at least enough that six years later, the game still regularly appears in Top 10 lists.

The game isn't bad. It has just moved on without you. There isn't a conspiracy to silence true fans. And there is no reason to believe the people still playing it would become suddenly enlightened if former fans were able to talk them down. They like the game. That's all there is to it. Sometimes franchises move on without all of the original fans, that's just to be expected.

Well, I did just pick on producers, but they do get things finished. We game designers usually get into trouble trying to do too much, too wide and deep. Add to that an eccentric wealthy benefactor trying to get patronage for a passion project....and that game probably won't get finished. Just think Curt Schilling for one recent example.

Today a Star Wars: Rogue One trailer was released, and apparently there is a minority (small minority, but enough to reach 3600 dislikes and cause big commotion in comment section) of people thinking that making a main character of SW spin off female means political correctness and attack of feminism.
While 80-90% of the characters in the trailer being male.

Well I am in no way social justice fighter myself, but I think it's safe to assume YT comment section is not the good measure of sanity, seeing how there were also similar obsessive comments under every civ video of female leader (maybe except victoria)

EDIT well nevermind I have managed to find some 'stupid feminists' quotes even under victoria, not to mention a cesspoll of "lulz looks like mobile game" comments and outrage over the fact "it should be named great britain, no england!!" - yeah YT comment section is really toxic :p
