Sorry to steal a thread but we need a mystery location for a thread discussion and this seemed a reasonable place. If you like, I can discuss pirates a bit - I especially liked the Spanish good looking daughter!

Key Phrases marking the whole paragraph as 'real' else 'fake':
  • On the other hand ...
  • It is best if ...
  • It would be a mistake if ...
  • Would you consider ...
  • Lets cut the crap ...

In formatting to mark words 'real'
  • italics
  • formatted the color blue
Pictures
  • any picture with the standard color scheme is fake
  • change color scheme using civscale (need to test if this triggers the 'changed assets' for civ)
  • or we could say "Here is a picture ..." which means a real picture and "Here is a photo ... " which means a fake picture

I have no idea at all how to use civscale, so I will have to see a tutorial for that.

The formatting seems okay but it should be easy for lurkers to catch on.

We might need a few more key phrases for more variety. It will get really boring to start lots of paragraphs with the same phrases.

I can help with that. I will test it to see if it works with locked assets and write something up for everyone.

Agreed, got any suggestions on some that I should add!

How do you take a picture of a civ game?
There should be a screenprint key on your keyboard - look for 'prt sc'. You might need to hold down a function key (I do). Then look in the 'screenprint' directory under your civ4 directory (the my docs one).

Ruff_Hi,

Great idea to set up the stolen thread.

I'm not too concerned about lurkers reading as everyone has been warned away from other team's threads. The red herrings will, however, make the diary much more entertaining and chaotic. Keeping it fairly simple will make it more comprehensible to us.

For the graphics, it may be easiest to set up a parallel game (same parameters and AIs) and just keep that running (with minimal effort). That way the eras would be the same as our real game.

Pranking will be interesting, though we'll have to agree to keep it to things that won't impact the next player's ability to play. City and unit names will be a fertile area. The signs looked good in the SG thread.

I read that they will be including the autologger. Will that be the basis of the writeups? If so, how much liberty should we take with it?

Hook 'Em

If Chriseay were to start a day early with the fake game and post followed by Strauss with the real one, that would certainly get things off to a rocking start!

I vote for ruff posting a fake save, with the excact same start, and Chriseay starting that as soon as possible.

As for the report by Sulla, great find Hook. The start is very similar to ours, and ignoring the variant of the RB adventure four, we could get some good tips concerning the Sgotm.

Right now I'm playing a game as egypt on epic speed, I could take some photos but it would have to be later in the game 100 AD or 1 AD:cool:

If you want a real photo, ill put one on. I worked extremely hard on this so hopefully the photo is worth missing 2 days of school:cool:

What do you mean 'the exact same start'. All the way down to the same geography?
Have you tried to work in worldbuilder lately - putting rivers in is a nightmare.

Edit - I take that back. Apparently the worldbuilder save is just a text file. I'll see what I can do.

Sorry - turned out to be too hard for my little brain to cope with. Now, maybe if I had 3 weeks to play with it ...
